She was sound asleep. Even though he couldn't move with her head resting on his arm, he enjoyed watching her steady breathing.
Whatever brought them together, it hardly matters now. What mattered to Kristofer was their present.
He squinted as a soft breeze blew through the window, creating a small slit from the curtains and letting a little sunshine pierce through their room.
Slowly, Anna moved her head, her eyes fluttered open.
"Morning, sunshine."
"Did you even sleep or did you stare at me all night?"
Kristofer chuckled, briefly poking Anna's nose with a finger.
"I did. I just woke up a few minutes before you did and I can't help but stare at how beautiful you are."
Anna poked his nose in return.
"You're flattering me again."
"I'm only admiring my wife. What's so wrong with that?"
"You're spoiling me too much. I might really not let you go to work if this goes on."
