"So, how's married life going?" Nikki asked while Anna had her phone against her ear. She was walking down the stony path which zigzagged around the garden.
Flowers of every kind bloomed from left to right. Sniffing the Hyacinth among the various scents teasing her nose, Anna almost imagined being back at her grandmother's garden.
Almost.
Just almost.
"Well, aside from the maids and the constant eyes watching us, I think I'm doing okay."
"Why does your voice seem to betray you?"
Anna blew out a sigh. Even when they were merely talking over the phone, Nikki could still see right through her.
"I'm fine. It's just… There are a few things that I need to adjust to. I guess. My grandmother didn't spoil me and my brother. And I know Kristofer didn't want any of this either but I'm a little overwhelmed with the change of environment."
