"You have to hit them in the head to make them stop." He advised her and she furiously nodded. I hoped that would sink into her skull. We were very few and were not ready to lose each other. Klaus hurried and got to the barricade. We were still trailing behind him as I grabbed Selena so hard. She complained that my grip on her arm was so tight but I didn't care. I would hold her tighter if that would make her not turn back and freeze while these monsters approached.
I had resisted the urge to slap her when she stopped back there. Klaus turned back and cried out. "Shiro! Selena! This way! Hurry!" He waved at us and we quickened our steps. "Okay," I said as I let go of her arm. She groaned with pain and continued running toward us. She soon began to complain about being tired but I hit her and asked her to run faster. She ran along, sobbing. "Let me tell you something Selena, you are not going to make it out of this place alive if you keep running like a snail. These are no longer your classmates. They are now beasts, monsters and they will eat your flesh if you refuse to run." I warned her and she nodded that she understood. This was not the time to behave weakly. It was not the time to be girly. We got to another taller staircase. She first started to climb and I helped her up. She found it very hard getting up and I found it hard as well. Hard in the sense that she was wearing flares and I couldn't stop glancing at her undies that revealed themselves.
I berated myself immediately, not finding it funny that I could make lewd jokes at a moment like this. I was finally able to get her up the stairs. She collapsed on the floor once we got there. At least this should keep these monsters away. It would be very hard for them to find us given the fact that we had climbed up quickly and they were not in sight when we ran to this place. But if we made any noise they would surely come for us and we would be terrified even though the barricade would be there to protect us.
Klaus stopped dead in his tracks as he gazed by the side. He looked at the city. We were on the roof of the school building and it overlooked the city. Smokes were going on in the sky and there were explosions. But that was not all. That was not even why he had stopped. What I saw next shocked me. It was a spine-chilling scene. What we saw was the street. The street was filled with people, people who were no longer human beings. People who had lost their sense of reasoning.
That was when it occurred to me that nobody outside had survived it. The whole thing started from the outside. I shook my head in fear, my mind finding it hard to process what I was seeing. It was unbelievable. How were we going to get out of here? "Shit...what is this?" Klaus said, staring into the distance. Selena looked at the disturbing scene and cried out"What the hell is going on?!!!" She soon flopped to the ground and began to cry. She was scared that something might have happened to her parents.
It looked like nobody survived it but I didn't believe that thought. I knew that despite how bad this looked, there were people who survived the incident and they were somewhere maybe hiding. I knew it even though I had not seen anybody. The only thing we had to do now was to wait for some time before help would come. Because I knew that help was going to come. Even though it seemed to be an outrageous Idea at this moment, I knew that we would soon get out of this mess. But I thought, what if the whole world has become plagued by this disease, what was going to be our fate then? What were we going to do? This was going to be one hell of a battle against the dead beings that did what they did in human bodies.
Selena was still on the floor crying. She could not believe that the world had become this way. She thought the whole thing was only happening at school. I ignored her cries and went to the bannister to look into the distance. Who knows, help might come any time. And if we missed any then we were done with. Crying was not going to save us now, crying was not going to bring back all those that had turned into these monsters and crying wouldn't keep them away. Instead crying would make them come for us. And if they came we all were going to die. We all had to man up, face what was in front of us and fight it until our last.
If we could make it out of this place then we were going to fight for it. But if we kept behaving like cry babies then we were not going to make it out of here alive. I turned around and went towards Selena who was flopped on the floor. I grabbed her arm and stared into her eyes, my jaws tightened in anger. I asked her to shut up immediately. She did without complaining. "Listen to me Selena, and listen carefully. You are not the only person here who has a family. I have a family and Klaus has.
And we are not crying. Crying won't solve the problem, instead, it will bring more problems. I want you to shut up and stop crying. There is every possibility that your family or our families are safe. So I want you to shut up and look around since help might come. Go around, look for anything that can help us get the f*ck out of here. A phone would be very helpful" I said with a tone of finality, leaving no room for argument. But first, I must tell you how it all began.
