Chapter 23 - Dignity

"But Elena…" He said as he walked beside her. They had been walking in that way for over an hour, making sure that they did not make the least sound else they would be caught and dealt with. He made sure that he looked around and went before her to make sure everywhere was clear before they threaded in the path they found themselves in. 

They both already had an inkling of what the whole thing looked like. They both knew what they would face if things didn't work out, they both knew the terrible price to pay if they let their guard down and made the least mistake. Because of that they had to be very careful since they were already aware that these strange creatures could only hurt their prey by sound. Their hearing was perfect but they had no sight because their eyes had already been corrupted in the process.  They trudged on, expecting the worst while making sure that they stirred away from every possible danger.
