During her one-year student exchange program, Bethany's hopes were crushed when she left for the airport to return to New York. She wished she could somehow meet the young man again, but unfortunately, her luck wasn't on her side.
Bethany still had an image of the young man's face that she would never forget. She inherited her mother's talent for drawing, and she drew the young man's face on one of the pages of her sketchbook.
Only her sister and her father's co-worker picked her up when she arrived at the New York airport. Her parents didn't come, and the two never even contacted her during her stay in Canada. Only Britney reached her frequently.
"Britney! How are you?"
"We just chatted yesterday before I got home. Surely you know how I'm doing."
Britney giggled a little and put her arms around her sister excitedly. "It's a good thing you're home. I'm so lonely at home."
"Lonely? We both know you have a thousand friends at your mercy."
