Roxy couldn't sleep in her cabin. Not because her eyelids weren't sleepy, but because her mind was packed with the subtle changes in Declan's character.
Declan was still looking at her lovingly, and she could still feel his feelings for her. But she detected a barrier between them.
She felt like Declan was keeping some distance between them.
Roxy didn't want to think too much about this at first. She had doubted the man's feelings to the point of hurting Declan's, and Roxy didn't want to repeat the same mistake.
She didn't want to hurt the man's feelings nor doubt his feelings.
But… Declan didn't help her by creating distance between them. The man was indeed acting normal and teased her occasionally, but Roxy could still tell the distinction.
