Chapter 5 - CHAPTER 4

November 1,2020

Dear diary,

Hi diary! Sorry hindi kasi ako makatulog..OMG so itutuloy ko na lang yung story ko!

So ito na nga! Nasa car na kami and I was surprised kasi akala ko magkakaroon lang kami ng dead air sa kotse. But suddenly my mother smiled at me.

"Oh honey I have dearly missed you.You are so pretty and sexy!",my mother was so happy as she talks to me but I pretty sure na nagbibiro lang siya doon sa part na "sexy".

"Thank you Ma,!", I smiled at her but I sure know that my tone is very sarcastic.

"So how was your trip?", my mother still asking me with a shaking tone in her voice na para bang kabado siya.

"Oh it was great! I landed on a kid...fell on the plane...and I hugged a stranger in the airport.", I replied to my mother with a sarcastic voice.

And there we go again...silence filled the whole car. Suddenly I noticed na parang hindi mapakali si mama. So I asked her what is wrong. Spoiler alert that was a big mistake!

"Ma, are you ok?", I asked my mother while looking at her with a worried face.

She then looked at me with a face that even I can't explain.

"Anak..are you mad at me?", she asked with a sad and guilty expression in her face.

"What? Ma I was so excited when I saw in the airport. After so many years I can finally see your beautiful face! I sometimes wish I was like you though...", I was about to cry because of the joy I was feeling in this moment.

"Oh..well that was a bit flattering iha! Well, I wish you could be like me though...if only you did not fell in the toilet", she said with a grin that is so visible because of her reddish lips and blinding teeth Ghad!

"What! Ma seriously? I fell in the toilet! I thought that Papa was only kidding!", I was so shocked and I did not realize that I was already screaming in the car.

"Oh...well he wasn't kidding, did you know that because of him we had lots of misfortunes?", mother told with mad tone in her voice. I was shocked and I felt anger consuming me. I mean seriously Papa had been a nice man to me and what are the chances that a woman who never even cared for me ever since I was born has the courage to rant and talk about my father like that! I controlled my emotions from bursting right at her and after a few minutes of silence she then changed the topic.

"So..since I was not around you as you grow up. Can you tell me how was your life with your father? How was Philippines?", she looked at me and gave me a smile.

"Uhm. Papa was great by the way! He was so caring and understanding! Unfortunately, I have no friends back in the Philippines", my happiness immediately fades as I realized that there is only one person who cared about me back in the Philippines and that is my father.

"OH, I'm sorry Iha for not being supportive and caring to you...uhm. well how was school?", I know that she is feeling guilty at this point so I tried to make her smile by telling her all the misfortunes I had in school.

"Well, when I was in primary school a kid glued my hair in the teacher's desk with a wood glue and it took a week to remove the glue in my hair. Oh! When I was in 5th grade, I got locked in the girl's locker room because I accidentally broke the doors handle and I tried to chew the remains the door's handle hoping it would miraculously open but it didn't work and I had to wait until lunch time before they could open the door and the worst thing is there is a camera in the locker room and the principal watched the video tape with horror in his face as he watches me chew the door knob. Oh yeah! I remembered when I was in high school, we went to a water park and one of my classmates pulled the string on my swim suit and it fell! Luckily, I was in the pool and I had a float. I searched for my underwear for an hour and I finally found it but a kid took it.... I waited until all the people left the park that afternoon and once, I finally had the opportunity to go to the bathroom a staff a saw me half naked! And both of us screamed to the top of our lungs."

We laughed so hard because of my stories and I didn't notice that my mother was laughing so hard that her eyes was no longer focused on the road. And after a moment of non-stop laughter, we accidentally bumped a police car.

The police man stared at us with a flaming look as if gusto na niya kaming matunaw sa sobrang galit. My mother immediately stepped on the gas and the police man ran as fast as he can to get inside his car.

"Stop in the name of the law!", The police yelled at us but my mother looked like she didn't hear anything.

The sirens immediately echoed on the atmosphere and I felt so much adrenaline in my heart.

"Ma stop na! ayoko na!", I screamed and shouted continuously and I opened the car's door. Suddenly my Mother pulled me back into the car but her empty bag flew out of the car and luckily hit the police man's car.

"We finally lost him.... Finally, we are out of the woods!", my mother shouted with delight.

Just as we thought that we finally survived the car immediately broke down.

"What happened!", I asked my mother and started panicking.

"Well apparently, we ran out of gas dear....", My mother said with a smile but the mood was a bit different. I can tell that she is controlling anger.

"At least we are not in prison, right?", I said to her with a cheerful voice.

"Yeah, you're right...I guess we can walk home?", she replied."

Under the scorching heat of the sun, it was a 20 km walk to my Mother's house and I remembered that every step we took is another pain I learned to tolerate. We were both starving and suddenly there was a police checkpoint blocking our way.

Well, inaantok na ako sorry diary tomorrow kita iu-update!

Love,

Molly<3
