"I said avoid her. She's a sinner and this city shall be cleansed. If you refuse, I will slit the throat of your mother. Do not tell a single soul, or else your flesh will be serve in a bowl."

I shivved after I read the letter he gave. I don't even know if he's he or she. I only receive letters.

I was about to throw it when I noticed something below on the note.

"You have 5 hours. I am watching you. Your time starts now."

I threw the note on the trashcan near me. Fear has eaten most of me. Whoever this is wants me to end my friendship with my best friend. My best friend since sophomore year. But if it costs my Mother's life, and will protect hers, I will do it.

I am in college now. Freshman. Soon as I heard the bell rang, I ran immediately to the elevator. My room is in the 4th floor of this building. I was with a girl inside and was with her when I got out. Before she could even walk, I noticed the paper she threw. I pick it up and read the note that was wrote.

"3 hrs and 54 mins."

I threw it again and tried to chase the girl but she was already gone. It's like she just vanished into thin air. I didn't mind it but instead, I just went straight to class, hoping that the lesson will go smoothly.

"You're late, Mr. Arevalo. Mind telling us where you've been?" My professor asked me soon as my footstep reached the room.

"Got stuck on a traffic, Ma'am." I reasoned out.

"Oh was it my fault?" She asked sarcastically.

"I don't remember blaming you." I said and the room was filled with laughter.

I just sat on my chair and didn't bother to listen. Actually, I tried to listen to the discussion but my mind was occupied with something else. About how will save my Mom's life and protect my bestfriend's. It's frustrating, makes me want to kill whoever he is.

Soon as the class finished, Sheen walked straight towards me. My bestfriend, soon to be acquaintance.

"We have to talk." I said.

"Yeah, we definitely have to talk. Don't bitch out on me." She said, threatening me.

"We can't be friends anymore. I'm sorry, but I can't engage with you and your sins. Not anymore." I said coldly, leaving her on her feet.

I know Sheena since junior high sophomore year. She's strong yet so fragile. That's why it hurts me leaving her behind.

I went to the locker room and saw an envelope hanging between the inside of my locker and the outside. It was color red, smells like rose and you can see it's too sophisticated. Looks like an invitation.

"I knew you can do it. Too bad you're too late. I already killed one sinner."

I froze from where I stand because of what I just read. I ran fast, straight to my house for I remembered that my mother will be the next. Soon as I reached the doorstep, I found an envelope again. This time it's color black, and smells like charcoal.

"Don't worry, it's not your Mom. I just almost did it though."

I went inside and found my Mom sitting on the couch, bloodshed in her arms, wounded and crying.

"It was here, Nathan. He's here." Mom said aggressively.

"Who? Who was here, Mom?" I asked.

"The Reaper."
