Lynne:
It shocked me that this school actually had dorms. For some reason, I just assumed that everybody would go home in between school sessions, but the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. If they wanted us to be in a war effort together, we would have to get used to living with each other. When in war, there are camps set up where everybody shares a similar space. Better to get used to it now rather than later.
It didn't take long to return to the school grounds. We walked past it, further to another set of trees that were on the other side, down the mountain and to a giant-looking castle that was even bigger than the school. It was made of light stone bricks with purple lining. The building was so huge I wasn't able to get all of it in my vision when standing close.
The sides of the building were attached to much shorter arches, creating a giant section in the middle. It was a vast courtyard with benches and gardens filled with beautiful flowers and expertly trimmed bushes. A garden worthy of royalty.
"Here's the boy's dorm. The girl's dorm is in that other building across the courtyard." Mirabelle explained, pointing across the garden to another building that looked like an exact copy of ours except the outlining was in a hot pink colour instead of purple.
"Thank you!" I exclaimed with a smile. "The sun is about to set, I guess we will go inside and get settled."
"Sounds like a good idea. See you in class tomorrow!" Mirabelle waved. Elizabeth waved as well, and they began their walk across the courtyard to their own building.
"Shall we go inside?" I asked, turning to Clay.
"Ya." He responded dryly. His lips were pressed together, and he was a bit stiff. I couldn't tell if he was excited or uncomfortable… Maybe it was a mix of both.
We pushed open the front gate and walked inside the vast castle. The first thing we saw was a large stairwell with big stone pillars lined up behind it. Everything in this place looked a good few feet bigger than it needed to be. Even my mansion at home didn't compare to the sheer size of everything in this building.
I was so overtaken by the gigantic interior that I failed to notice the four small maids lined up at the bottom of the stairs. "Welcome to the boy's dorm, Prince Charlton!" They announced in perfect unison. All of their voices were high pitch, they all used the same fluctuation in their words… the same tone. It was like they were robots.
"Hello, girls!" I greeted, trying to sound friendly. "This is another new student transferring today, Clay."
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Master Clay!" The girls greeted in unison once again. It was that same creepy robotic tone they used before. Clay was already sweating, shifting around uncomfortably.
"Nice to… meet you… too… I guess…" He muttered. The way his eyebrows were knit made me feel like being called Master made him deeply uncomfortable. At least that's what I assumed. Maybe this whole thing was overwhelming for the boy.
I thought I would be doing him a favour by trying to move things along.
"Alright… I'm exhausted. I think we want to head straight to bed today. Where will we be sleeping?" I asked, giving a half fake yawn that turned into a real yawn at the end.
"Your room has been prepared for you, Prince Charlton. However, I am very sorry, we were not informed we would have to make preparations for two new guests. At the moment there is only a single room with a one bed." The maid on the far right explained, looking at me apologetically.
I swear to god I had a heart attack.
This couldn't be real. There is no way in hell I was getting the biggest cliche fanfiction moment of all time. Two characters travel far and wide, both exhausted from their journey. Yet when they finally arrive at their destination… to both of their surprise…
THERE IS ONLY ONE BED!
My heart thrashed against my chest. I felt like I was in an isekai where the main character gets to live out all of their greatest fantasies in an unknown world! The only thing that was missing to make this perfect is the hypothermia cliche. We would both be wet and trapped in a blizzard, the building having no heat. The only way to fight hypothermia… GET NAKED UNDER THE COVERS TOGETHER!!!
No no no! Bad Lynne! That was asking for way too much. I should just be happy to be living out the one-bed cliche in real life. I was tempted to pinch myself to make sure I really wasn't dreaming.
"That's fine. I'll sleep on the floor. I'm used to it, anyway." Clay shrugged.
My heart stopped beating.
"NO!" I exclaimed, way too loudly... Clay looked at me like I was an alien. Even the maids looked deeply disturbed by my sudden outburst. I was sure I looked like a maniac. I could feel the sweat pooling down my back. I was breathing heavily, like a complete creep. But I couldn't let Clay ruin this chance.
"I mean…" I stuttered with an awkward chuckle. I smiled and gave a casual shrug, trying my best to act like I couldn't care less. "No, there's no need to sleep on the floor!" I chuckled casually again. "Clay can just sleep in my bed for tonight," I suggested.
"Wh-What!?" Clay exclaimed. I saw his face turn bright red. I wondered if he felt the same as me… if he didn't he wouldn't look so embarrassed right now… right? "I-I can't share a bed with you. You're the Prince… I mean… Isn't that…" He stuttered.
"Well, I'm the Prince and I say it's fine. So, problem solved!" I cheered. I gave Clay a grin, trying to make it like a casual suggestion. I really hoped he couldn't hear my heart pounding. Or see my true intentions.
"Well… I guess… it's fine then." Clay muttered.
And just like that… I'd be sharing a bed with the man of my dreams. Let's just hope the rest of the fanfiction plays out like it's supposed to. If it does...
Tonight might be the night I lose my virginity~
