Chapter 24 - Remember My Name

"Plop!"

The burly man tied the shovel to his back and jumped into the river. The piercing cold water made him shiver uncontrollably. However, to him, nothing was more important than swimming to the other side of the river.

The river was less than 50 meters long. He had used all his strength to swim only half of the distance, but this had already caused his entire body to twitch a little.

"Damn it, I can't die here. There are definitely resources I want in the karst cave!"

Just as the man cursed in a deep voice, he gritted his teeth and continued to persevere.

However, when he was less than ten meters away from the opposite bank, he finally felt powerless. The ice-cold river water made his body stiffen. He raised his head with difficulty but was pleasantly surprised to see Joseph's figure standing on the shore.

This made him immediately shout out in pleasant surprise, "Brother, help me, I'm dying. As long as you can help me, I'll trade all my resources with you!"

The pleasant surprise on his face could not hide the gloominess in his eyes. He did not expect that someone had already arrived at the karst cave before him.

"Damn it, I hope you didn't waste too many resources, or else I definitely won't let you die so easily!"

Ike cursed in his heart, Joseph was already dead to him. It was enough for him to be alone in such a large karst cave. There was no need for anyone else to waste resources for survival.

Meanwhile, Joseph looked at Ike who was struggling in the center of the river, and his heart started to struggle.

Should he save Ike or not?

If he did not save Ike, he would save a lot of trouble. He could just pretend that he did not see it and quietly wait for Ike to drown in the river.

Ike was a living being after all. If Joseph saved Ike, he might bring a ticking time bomb to himself. The resources that he had accumulated in the karst cave would definitely make people jealous.

If there were other people, he would definitely not be able to feel rest assured if he wanted to go out and explore.

Just as Joseph was weighing the pros and cons in his heart, Ike, who was in the river, could not hold on any longer.

"Brother, please save me. I still have a child who is not even ten years old. If he is left alone in this dangerous world, how can he survive?"

Just as Ike said this, his eyes suddenly became flushed. He even became so agitated that he cried.

"Damn it, I hope what he said is true!"

Joseph's determination wavered as he cursed inwardly. He sailed the Emperor Joseph and came to the center of the river to rescue Ike.

"Phew, thank you so much, Brother. I, Ike, will never forget your great kindness. As long as there is anything I need help with in the future, I will definitely do it!"

Ike lay on the raft in a sorry state. He patted his chest at Joseph and kept assuring him with a simple and honest smile. There was no trace of ruthlessness at all.

"No need. It's nothing. I'll send you back to the other side. The river here can not be crossed by swimming!"

Joseph nodded calmly and drove the raft to the other side of the karst cave.

"This..."

Ike saw that Joseph had no intention of bringing him into the karst cave. He immediately lowered his head and a fierce look flashed in his eyes.

'Damn it, I originally wanted to leave you a complete corpse because you saved my life, but now it seems that I was too merciful!'

After cursing in his heart, Ike once again raised his head and returned to his simple, honest appearance.

"Brother, do you have anything to eat? I haven't eaten for more than a day. Otherwise, I wouldn't have risked my life to swim to the other side!"

Just as he spoke, Ike was inspecting Joseph's body. When he saw the plate armor and the crossbow on Joseph's waist, his gaze suddenly froze, and then he shot a greedy gaze.

"I don't have much food either, but if you're really hungry, I can give you a piece of Rye Bread!"

Joseph replied softly. Although Ike's acting skills were very good, everything was within Joseph's sight as he had been paying attention to Ike.

Nonetheless, unless it was absolutely necessary, he did not want to personally kill one of his own kind, even if he might be a bad person.

However, if Ike really did not know what was good for them and had evil intentions towards Joseph, then he would definitely not show mercy.

This was the underground world. Who knew how many people died every day? Even a large portion of them died at the hands of their own kind.

Resources = Survival = Life!

Kindness = Weakness = Death!

Such a simple formula was the most realistic situation in the underground world.

"Thank you, Brother. I don't know how to address you, so I can repay you in the future!"

Ike rested for a while and slowly got up. Just as he approached Joseph, he reached out to grab the shovel behind him.

"There's no need. That's all I can do. I hope we can meet again in the future!"

Joseph stopped the raft, turned around, and said to Ike in a deep voice.

"That's right. There's really no need!"

Looking at Joseph's defenseless look, Ike revealed a vicious smile. It was the same last time. He had killed that idiot with his own hands. He believed that it would be the same this time.

"You may be right!"

Joseph looked at Ike who had changed his face and sighed. He really did not want this. He had already given him several chances, but he obviously did not cherish them.

"Whoosh!"

The sound of a shovel cutting through the air was heard. The sharp shovel directly hacked at Joseph's head.

"Slash!"

A pitch-black knife light flashed, and the shovel was instantly split into two.

"Plop!"

The shovel's head fell into the river, leaving Ike, who was still holding the shovel's handle in a daze. He stared at Joseph's figure, dumbfounded.

"I think this time, I should tell you my name. My name is Joseph. I hope that when you arrive at Satan's Place, you will remember this name!"

Just as Joseph spoke, he put the Cursed Dagger back to his waist and took out the crossbow.

The crossbow that had already been set up was shining with a cold luster. This made Ike smell the scent of death clearly.

"Joseph?"

"You're actually Joseph?"

Hearing Joseph's words, Ike's expression suddenly changed. He did not expect that the person he wanted to kill was actually the big shot that he had once worshipped in the chat room.

"Big Brother Joseph, can you please give me a chance to live? I can be a dog for you, a loyal dog. Can you let me go?"

Ike knelt on the ground and begged Joseph to let him go.

However, at this moment.

"Go to hell!"

At this moment, Ike took out a rusty dagger from his waist and stabbed it straight at Joseph.

"Bang!"

The malevolence on Ike's face froze and was replaced by a look of disbelief.

A sharp arrow pierced between his eyebrows, and the huge impact knocked him down on the raft.

"I said it before, I hope you can remember my name!"
