"Talla, wake up! Mark is here with Connor!"
I roll over to grab my cell phone and see the time. It was slightly past seven in the morning. It was Wednesday, my late day for classes, these jerks are going to die. My roommate has to heading out for class.
"You idiots can wait inside, don't make Willow late!"
Connor laughs, "is that the way to talk about your two dearest childhood friends?"
That's right, Connor is the other guy. I don't love him the way I love Mark though. The issue is I have no clue which one has my mark. Connor came back right after Mark kissed me. So now I'm back to planning. Swimming will get both of them to see my mark, but not Mark's or if Connor has one.
"Today is my late day. So you will be waiting awhile." I said going through my drawers. "We normally get breakfast together on Tuesday or Thursday. What are you guys doing here on a Wednesday?"
I could hear Mark whisper something. Connor made a small chuckle then my door burst open. I tightened my robe and picked up my volleyball. I eyes mark and hit him hard in the stomach. Now I knew that Mark was curious about my mark too.
"How did you know it was Mark's fault?"
I look to him noticing a guilty look. "Cause I know you both too well."
Mark nodded, "maybe your one of our soulmates."
Connor laughed, "I feel like we would already know right?"
I shook my head, "depends on the mark right?"
If I had to go by visual, Mark would be my type. He had dark brown thick hair and a nice Filipino tan. It made Connor's ginger hair and pale skin stand out in our group. I was also half Filipino. That is actually how Mark and I met was a Filipino party. My Lola, grandma, introduced our families. My hair was a lighter brown, but my skin was darker than Mark's that could have to do with my father being half black.
By the time we got to the breakfast place, it was eight in the morning. We were at the closest coffee shop. I hated coffee, but this small cafe had some of the best teas. I sent up Connor to order for us, since it was his turn to pay.
"Do you want to go out to dinner with me tonight?"
I give a shocked expression to Mark, "why do you keep acting like you know I'm your soulmate. Even you said you refused to date until you found them."
He smiles, "what do you propose then? I don't know about you, but that kiss was the most amazing thing I've ever felt."
"Alright here we go! It looks like this is for Talla and this is for Mark."
Mark and I look at the orders and switch them. Honestly Connor does this every time. We have gone here twice every week for three years. Connor gives a nervous laugh and a shrug.
"Connor, I have a question."
Connor looks up with a mouthful of a muffin, "what's up?"
I give him a look, "yeah Mark, What's up?"
"Well I was curious. Do you have a soulmate's mark?"
He chokes on the muffin and tries to drink it down with coffee. "Where did that come from?"
I give him a 'stop it' expression. "Mhm where?"
Mark uses his hands to hold up his head. "I have one."
"Well truth be told, yeah I do. I think it was from Emma. I've been trying to get to hand out with us. You know like when we were in high school."
I run a hand down my face, "maybe you and Mark are soulmates."
"Not unless his mark is on his hip." Both Mark and I look right at each other. "Whoa what's going on?"
I shake my head, "It's nothing. Mark is just probably your soulmate."
Mark stands up, "sorry I need some air."
"That was weird right?"
I nod trying to think of anyway to see both boys hips. Realizing how awkward that sounded in my head, I push the thought from my mind. The mark could be on different sides. If only Mark had asked what side, it would be awkward if I had asked.
"Do you think he is coming back? I mean he has been gone for awhile."
I laugh, "just eat his food, if he wants more I'll buy it."
Connor scarfs down the breakfast burrito. "You know I always thought that you two would be soulmates."
"Yeah, me too..."
Connor drops the burrito. "Wait what?!"
I smash my hands over his mouth, "keep it down would you?"
"You're in love with him."
I lean back in my chair, "yeah he knows. I want to know for sure if he is my soulmate though. We both have soulmate marks...."
"Wait you do?! Where?"
I look up, it is now or never. "On my right hip."
He looks down. "Mine is on my left if you were curious. I know we threw around the I love you phrase back when we were kids. I mean we should probably find out where his is located."
"Let's go find him. I'll bring his coffee."
Connor leads the way toward the gym. I follow behind thinking of how I can use Connor to help me find out about Mark's mark. As we get to the volleyball court, I see Mark talking to another girl on the court. I sped up my pace unconsciously. I walked into the gym quickly.
"I think...I love you!"
Mark's eyes instantly go to my face. It may of been my imagination, but I swore a grin spread across his face. I headed toward Mark with his coffee in hand. I instantly formed a plan, was it a good one, probably not.
"Hey babe, I grabbed your coffee. You left it at breakfast."
His head tilts to the side. "Meet my soulmate. Naya."
She turns to me with a shocked look. "You're the president of the Student Wellness and Athletic Board."
Mark wraps an arm around my shoulder as he grabs his coffee. "She is also the captain of the woman's volleyball team and second in academics. Only person who can beat her is yours truly."
"It's only because I suck at science."
He laughs, "which makes no sense since you are so good at Information technology and mathematics."
The love professor looks at Mark. "I apologize for my sudden outburst. I saw you at lunch and had this heart beat skip moment. I just had to find out for sure."
I lean back into Mark's arm. "No issue. We totally understand, but maybe ask if they have a soulmate next time first."
"Where are your marks? I mean..if you don't mind me asking."
Mark smiles wide, "the right hip."
