Chapter 14 - Like Mother Like Daughter

"Hey Angela", Weston shouted.

"Angela..."

"Angelaaaaaaaa", still no response.

"What is she doing?" Weston stood up from the couch and went to the bedroom where Angela was sitting and watching Facebook videos on her iPad.

Weston folded his arms and said, "Escusemua! Why are you not answering me". Angela didn't even look up from the screen of her iPad, it's like she refused to acknowledge the existence of her husband.

Milli comes running into the room, says Daddy repetitively, and hugs Weston's right leg. Weston looks down, picks up Milli, and asks her why Mommy is not talking to Daddy. Avianne standing at the doorstep of the bedroom says "Mom is angry cause you forgot the anniversary".

"Ohhhhh! Love I am so sorry," Weston puts Milli back down but she clings and hangs herself to Weston's leg like a monkey.

"With all that work in the office and I also have to train this junior his name is Brandon, he is so stupid… I have to almost do his work as well," Weston stumbled towards the bed with Milli the monkey on his leg.

"You know I never forget our anniversary," Avianne interrupted, saying "You forgot it last year as well".

Weston looked at Avianne with 'like Mother like daughter' eyes and Weston sat down on the bed and pleaded. "it's just these days I am so involved and you know Jayde, he is off to London because his dad is in the hospital so I have to do his work as well, come on love you have to cut me some slack here," Weston tried to tickle Angela and she finally looked up but not in good faith.

"It's not OUR ANNIVERSARY LOVE!", Anglea said with a wide grin and sarcasm that could cut through steel.

"Wait then whose anniversary is it!" Weston was in utter confusion.

"IT'S NANNA AND GRANDAD'S ANNIVERSARY," Avianne shouted with equally powerful sarcasm.

"No It's NOT!", Weston thought it's not months before his parent's anniversary and then it clicked in his head, he turned his head towards Angela, "It's your parent's anniversary...I am really sorry you know I never forget our annivers...".

"Yeah because it's in your schedule and your secretary tells you that it's your anniversary 'SIR' and arranges fanny dinners and gifts for me," Angela said as she threw her iPad away.

"No...that's not true, I tell her to make those arrangements," Weston felt violated because he thought that he was pulling these perfect anniversaries without Angela knowing that his secretary planned it.

"Do you think I am an idiot?"

"Ye...Nooooooo!" Weston almost slipped a yes out loud.

"I am so done with you," Angela said and stomped out of the room. Weston felt helpless and looked At Avianne with 'What did I ever do wrong to you' eyes.

"Whose side are you on!" Weston shouted to Avianne, still standing on the doorstep of the room.

"Mommy's side always," Avianne said with sass in her voice.

"I pay for your school and all your clothes and I buy you... whatever you need…I pay for your necessities," Weston was always on bad terms with Avianne cause she was the exact copy of her mother, just younger and more annoying.

"You didn't buy me that dollhouse though," Avianne said after folding her arms and moving her head in unison with her words.

"That was a 450-dollar plastic house… I can make one better than that in a quarter of the price," Now Weston understood where the vengeance was coming from. He wished Angela was there to tell their daughter that 450 dollars is ridiculous for a doll house because Avianne only listens to her mother.

"I wam a doll house," Milli said in her sweet-sweet voice.

"Yes ricecake I will buy you a beautiful doll house which is not 450 DOLLARS," Weston said the last part looking at Avianne.

"Whatever," Avianne said and went towards her room.

Weston was dumbstruck about how a 9-year-old can hold this much attitude, he looked down on Milli who was swinging from his left hand.

"Milli is on Daddy's team right?" Weston asked Milli in a high-pitched voice.

"Yes I am in Daddy's team", Milli said as she jumped around. Weston was happy that at least one member of the family was on his side.

"I love you rice cake," Weston picked up Milli and gave her a tight hug. "I love you too Daddy..." Weston was happy and thankful for this wholesome moment and wanted it to never end.

"But not as much as I love Mommy".

"God kill me please, I insist," Weston said slowly.

"Did you say something daddy"

"No I just said I love you too," Weston cried in pain.

"No I am not doing that, Matt you tell her," Dexter was determined but Brooklyn was pushing Dexter to his mental limit.

"I dunno it's your choice," Matt didn't want to buzz in and get his ass whooped by Brooklyn.

"I am telling you It's a once in a lifetime opportunity," Brooklyn said to Dexter.

"I just don't care about this stuff," Dexter was in deep denial.

"Yeah I know and where does it leave you, In a fucking dumpster with looser written all over it and in bright neon color," Brooklyn grabbed Dexter with his collar.

"ARE YOU FUCKING THROWING A PARTY OR NOT!!!!!" Brooklyn used Death by Snu Snu... It was super effective.

Dexter's house was absolutely trashed by half of the school being there for the party that he had to throw because Brooklyn forced it on him.

It's been 3 hours since the party started. Dexter tried every possible thing to protect his house from the wrath of unknown strangers from school. Nothing worked so now he is sitting on the stairs with a bag of popcorn in his hands just two steps below where a couple is making out vigorously.

"Hey Dexter The party is lit," says yet another stranger, and Dexter wonders who the heck is he? Because this guy looks way too old to be in his grade. It would be a waste of time to explain the whole situation so for reference imagine a popular frat house that just had 3 back to back parties. Dexter sees Brooklyn coming out of the living room area which was 150% of its people holding capacity.

Dexter's helplessness turned into rage and he ran towards to catch Brooklyn before she vanished into thin air again.

"Hey You!'' Dexter shouted at Brooklyn.

"Yeah What's up"

"What do you mean? What's up, everything is up, why did you invite so many PEOPLE," Dexter was fired up with all the emotions he was feeling.

"What are you talking about there are only few people,"

"FEW PEOPLE half of the county is here," Dexter was getting annoyed because Brooklyn was not taking him seriously.

"County! What are you a cowboy using fancy words," Brooklyn started laughing and suddenly there was a big thud in the living room. Dexter tried his best to get into the living room and found that the glass top of the coffee table was broken because 5 PEOPLE were sitting on it.

Dexter wanted to be mad but his head was spinning brutally at this point, his will to live was negligible and his mental health was on 2 hp.

Weston was on his way to Dexter's house because Jayde got a call from neighbors that there was a party going on and they couldn't sleep because it was too loud. Dexter wasn't picking up his phone because he couldn't even hear that his phone was ringing. Moreover, a phone ringing was his last concern.

Weston could hear the music the second he entered the block and there it was. A party at Jayde's house holy-shit, he parked the car opposite to the house, got out, and looked at the beauty. So many lights, cups, jugs, kegs and so much more litter all around the house, deafening music blasting through the house and so many kids enjoying themself.

Weston sat back in his car and drove away like a responsible adult he is. "Jayde would be proud of him, Go little rockstar," Weston said to himself as he was reminded of his prime days of life.

Dexter went into his room which he locked even before the party started so no one could enter his room. This was the best life decision he made so far in the past couple of weeks. He wanted a way out of this and his mind was in flux, he felt so many emotions from the party that he did not even know how to compute.

He wanted to run away from his own house but he had nowhere else to go, so he accepted the truth of life and was ready to live like this for the rest of his life. Dexter had made peace with his reality. After some time he saw a car stop in front of the house and he recognized the man in the car. It was no one other than Weston, Dexter thought that Dad must have called him and he must be in grave trouble.

Dexter took out his phone from his pocket which somehow had a crack in it but it didn't bother him because he had made peace with reality. 13 missed calls From 'Dad' FUUUUUU…, Dexter put the phone in his pocket and took a big sigh. He walked out of the door and started moving downstairs for his punishment which came in the form of Dad's friend Weston. He couldn't go beyond 4th step because a couple was still kissing and then he saw the dawn of Weston when he walked in from the front door.

"LET'S PARTYYYYYYY!!!!" Weston shouted and the whole crowd went silent except the music and all looked at him.

"I got THE BEER!!!" Weston shouted again as he lifted what looked like 6 polythene bags full of beer cans.

"Yes BEER FINAALY," a guy shouted, everyone looked at him including Dexter and it was no other than Matt the alcoholic.

"Yeah!"

"Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer!"

"Way to goo," everyone started shouting and Weston was welcomed with open arms and hugs into the family. Weston looked at Dexter who was standing on the stairs and said "Hello Dexter, Great party!!!" with a thumbs up as he moved deep into the swamp of people.

Dexter had made peace with reality and moved back into his room.
