A bright, fiery sun hovered in the sky as clouds drifted underneath. Below the horizon was a grassy field, dotted with the occasional oak tree. As leaves turned red and detached into the wind, two figures stood on the green surface at a moderate distance apart.
Leaves swirled about the field as the older man with salt-and-pepper hair and environmentally-friendly green eyes extinguished his cigarette.
"Alright, it's been a week. Now, show me the result of that time spent, Tamashi."
Across the field, the teen boy with shaggy black hair and navy blue eyes answered the man's request with a confident smile.
"Right! Here we go!"
The wind abruptly softened into a breeze, as if the sky was holding its breath.
Sensei flashed a smirk as he initiated a brisk run towards Tamashi.
"What's up with this, Sensei? You're the one who said-"
As Sensei lessened the gap to 20 feet, Tamashi reached out his arm towards his attacker.
"-to never make the first move."
Just as Sensei was less than five feet from crashing into Tamashi's outstretched palm, a giant wall of lightning formed, separating the two opponents.
'Inazuma no Kabe!'
Sensei reacted by jumping upwards with a powerful force. Despite the size of the wall, he cleared it with ease and began a descent towards Tamashi.
"I've got you right where I want you, JIJI-SENSEI!"
Tamashi prepared his fist as Sensei neared the ground. Time seemed as if it was slowing down as the opponents' colorful eyes locked.
"You have me right where you want me, huh? You've already assumed you've won."
At the last moment before impact, Sensei flipped his body around and landed on his feet. As Tamashi attempted to throw a punch, Sensei latched onto his arm, pulled him in, and slammed his fist into his back, forcing Tamashi onto his stomach as he coughed up a small amount of blood. Sensei ended the fight by restraining Tamashi's arms behind his back and kneeling next to him.
"Don't be too quick to assume you've won, Tamashi. You're an excellent planner, but your plans will not always occur the way you want them to."
Tamashi tilted his head up, revealing a face of annoyance and sarcasm.
"Right, thanks for the advice, Jiji-sensei."
Sensei produced a sigh of slight frustration.
"When will you learn- oh."
Sensei released his hold on Tamashi and raised his right hand to his head. Tamashi rose from his defeated position and began to question Sensei's abrupt action.
"Hey, what's going on? Is something happening?"
Sensei dropped his hand from his head and stood up. His facial expression was somber and serious.
"What I've feared the most for the past week has occurred. Tamashi, get ready for a mission. You'll be starting your first mission as a wielder of lightning without delay."

"You need 'him' to go out and fix the situation, right? He's already on his way."
Within a rather short period of time, Bri's face had turned bright red.
"Who the hell authorized that, AND WHY THE HELL DIDN'T YOU SAY ANYTHING?"
The well-dressed man of muscle responded with a sense of tranquility, as if he wasn't impacted by Bri's sudden outburst.
"Madam, it seems that your acquaintance has already recognized the situation and has accordingly sent the boy out to put a stop to Max's rampage. I'm not quite sure of how he acquired such information, though."
Bri placed a hand over her face as she thought through the curveball of information she had just received.
'Master, you're normally wise and careful, so what would drive you to send Tamashi out to battle Max with only a week of training? I mean, I was about to do the same, but you're normally not the type of person who would make the decision to do that. Unless… Wait, has Tamashi already mastered one of Rai's powers? That's the only reason I could think of… In that case, I know what I'm going to do now.'
Bri jumped up from the table.
"Suji, get my coat. I'm heading out."
The butler named Suji formed a slight smirk.
"Right away, Madam, but may I ask… where to?"
Bri made her way past Suji, then turned her head to respond.
"I'm going to claim my prize."
——
A hooded Tamashi danced through the alleyways, amplifying his body with electricity.
'Don't overdo it, Tamayo. You may be able to wield some lightning, but that doesn't mean your weak-ass body can handle it very well.'
"Just shut up, Rai! I'm concentrating here. I can't believe… All this time, when I was training… My friends…"
Suddenly, an explosion appeared a few blocks away, which minimally impacted the lightning-charged Tamashi. He noticed a large fire towering above the buildings a few blocks away.
"Charlie, Anna… I'm coming! I'm gonna beat that fire bastard!"
——
Suddenly, Max was encased in a web of lightning.
The wall of fire disappeared, revealing dark, shadowed Tamashi standing behind Max, holding Tsuru over his right shoulder.
When the lightning web disappeared, Max turned around and launched a tirade against the intruder.
"WHO THE HELL ARE YOU? WHY ARE YOU INTERFERING WITH MY FIGHT? LEAVE OR DIE!"
As Tamashi lowered his hood, he formed a chilling response.
"Who am I? You hurt my friends, so I'm the guy who's gonna destroy you."
Charlie's mouth dropped to the ground as he realized who had just appeared.
"Is that you, TAMASHI?!"
Max's face formed a look of astonishment when he heard Charlie's question.
"Tama…shi? You're Tamashi? The guy who's getting the lightning treatment? THE GUY WHO'S GETTING ALL OF KITA'S ATTENTION?!"
Tamashi used his lightning to dash past Max and join Charlie and the unconscious Anna against the wall.
Tamashi's eyes were filled with somber as he observed Anna then turned back towards Max.
"What did you do to her? Why are you doing this? And, just a second ago, did you say Kita? Are you a member of Kita?"
"WHO CARES ABOUT ALL THAT! ALL I WANT TO DO IS KICK YOUR ASS!"
Tamashi began walking forward as Charlie protested.
"Tamashi, hold up! He's too strong, we have to run! Wait up-"
"Charlie, I'm here to save you guys. I'll take care of this guy, so sit back and watch."
Tamashi slammed his fist into his other hand, with sparks forming around the impact.
"Alright, hotshot, it's time for this to end."
Max's face of anger converted itself into a grin of excitement.
"BRING IT, SPARKY!"
