Jonah stood to go and ran into the doctor at the door. The man smiled at him and asked, "Leaving so soon?"
He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. He was never supposed to be here in the first place and was embarrassed at getting caught. He needed to get out of here before she woke up.
"Yeah, I'm supposed to be working right now. But I left her emergency contact's number on the table. Can you tell her that I'll take care of letting her boss know she's in the hospital too so she doesn't have to call in sick tomorrow?"
The doctor nodded. "Certainly. What's your name?"
"That doesn't matter. I'm nobody. Just tell her what I said," Jonah insisted as he hurried away, not noticing that his ID badge wasn't clipped to his belt loop where it belonged. It had fallen onto the chair next to Eden's bed as he sat there.
