Troy refused to leave Jonah alone for a second on Sunday morning for when Eden inevitably called to find out what had happened, intending to coach him through it. And it was a good thing he did because he totally would have tripped up otherwise.
"It's show time," Troy said grimly as they sat at the table finishing up their cereal and Jonah's phone started to ring.
He took a deep breath before answering, not even waiting for her to ask what happened. "Eden, I'm so sorry; my grandma had a heart attack and my aunt wanted me at the hospital right away. I would have woken you up first but you were so deeply asleep that I didn't want to disturb you."
"What?! Is she okay?" she asked worriedly, buying the lie.
"She's stabilized but we're still at the hospital. She might be in here for a few days while they monitor her but she should be able to go home later this week. The timing of all of this really sucked but—"
