At this time of year, band practice primarily consisted of practicing songs from playlists brides had given them because of how many weddings they played. They didn't get much of a chance to work on their own stuff until the busy season was over.
Troy was still working on some new lyrics though. They had only been able to release a single back in February because none of them had a lot of time to work on developing new songs but they wanted to record their second album within the next year. That would require a lot of work starting in August.
Lyrics were important but so were the guitar, bass, and drum parts. Putting the whole thing together in a way everyone was satisfied with and then practicing it enough to make it worth recording was a time-consuming process.
