Eden smiled and shook her head at her fiancé. "You sap. I can't believe you kept a thing like that from me for so long. I didn't know what sort of long-term plans you had period, let alone regarding me because you never talked about that sort of thing."
His smile became self-deprecating. "That's because I didn't really have any long-term plans before you. I was taking things one day at a time as best I could since I already had a house, car, and job. I didn't think there was anything else in the cards for me."
That sounded a lot like pre-relationship Jonah who was so depressed he didn't think he even deserved to try and go for what he wanted alright. But he had to have some hopes and dreams he hadn't told her about their future since he realized he wanted them to stay together permanently so much earlier than she did.
"And now?" she asked.
