Aubrey relaxed. "See? Nothing to worry about. If you're really that bothered by it, you should ask him."
"…but what if I make things weird and he leaves me over it?" Eden asked in a small voice. "I can handle anything but him leaving me."
She left off the unspoken "again" but had a feeling her best friend knew what she meant. Last time had been bad enough and that was before they were even all that close. Their relationship had consisted of a bunch of phone calls and texts plus one actual night together back then but that was it. They weren't in a proper relationship.
So much had changed since then. How could she go back to life the way it was before now that she knew how wonderful being with Jonah was? How could she survive that kind of emotional devastation?
If Aubrey thought she was Jonah's whole universe…he was probably hers too. He had managed to replace Aubrey as her best friend the same way David replaced her. She needed him.
