Troy had to stop there because he couldn't go into the way he had been used in his cousin's deception. His mother would kill both of them.
She might interpret his comment as referring to the way his life had been disrupted by Jonah coming to live with them in the first place, though he had never resented his cousin for that. How could he when he was so glad Jonah was still alive?
He had lost a lot of friends and girlfriends from defending his best friend but he didn't mind that. He didn't need to be around such judgmental people anyway. If they were too shallow to accept him, they weren't worth keeping around.
And it wasn't like he didn't have anyone outside of Jonah. He had his bandmates and other people from San Jose's music circuit. He had a few people from high school that had stayed in the area too.
