Jonah should have known Eden would think this way. How could she want to get married after seeing what happened between her parents? Especially since she believed her mother blamed her for the divorce somehow.
This wasn't personal. He had to remind himself that she loved him and whatever hang-up she might have about marriage had been there long before he came along.
He already knew he had to take things slow with her so he wouldn't mess up. No matter how much he wanted to marry her, he couldn't push her. Things had to go at her pace. All that really mattered was that she stayed by his side forever.
The best course of action was to ignore that particular detail and address the other part of what she said. "If it would help, I can go with you and act as a shield of sorts. You don't have to face her alone."
Eden blinked up at Jonah in surprise. "You'd really do that for me? But the wedding is more than six months away."
