Everyone is in Damara's room, looking at the TV, and watching the news. They mentioned me and I raised my eyebrows.
"Hello. It has been brought to our attention that there is an orange in our midst. We have to put her on the throne once and for all! This is the first orange in history, and she shall rule our kingdom." The news reporter said, and I widened my eyes.
"You're going to rule." Leah said, and I nodded, looking down at myself.
-Luna-
"WHAT! NO! NO! NO!" I shouted, and everyone ran into my room.
"What's wrong?" Katherine said, and I showed them the TV.
"They found out about the color orange, mother!" I said, and Lana and Lina rushed in, to see that the TV was playing.
"If you could please bring the color orange to us, we will gladly show her the castle that she shall rule." The news reporter said, and then Dysio and Katherine looked at Lana.
"Lana, we need to draw a fake orange mark on you! You need that throne!" Katherine said, looking at Lana and she nodded.
-Ashlyn-
"You're the color orange that they are missing! We need to get you to that news station before Katherine and Dysio can get to you." Damara said, and I nodded, as I made my way to the car.
"What are you doing?" Tyler asked me, and I sighed.
"I am going to get to that news station. No matter who's with me or against me." I said, and Tyler looked scared.
"Then I am going with you." Tyler said, and Damara looked at him with annoyance.
"Me too." Damara replied, and I nodded.
"Me three." Mads added and I smiled.
"Jack and I too." Leah said, and I nodded, as I walked out to the car and sat myself in the third row. The very very back row of the van.
---
Everyone hopped in the van and looked at each other. Damara was next to me and Tyler was next to Jack and Leah. Alia was driving next to Mads in the front. The entire way there, we talked about how life is going to be once I take the ruling position in the government of the color society. I sighed, and fell asleep in Damara's lap because that is the last thing I am thinking about at the moment. And I mean literally, the last thing I am thinking about. All I am thinking about how relieved I am going to be once I am protected by the royal guard.
-Damara-
Aww, Ashlyn is honestly so cute right now. I put my hand through a stroke of her hair, and looked up as I noticed that Jack and Leah are doing something with their phones and Tyler is looking back at Ashlyn to make sure she's okay even though THAT's my job.
"Stop looking back here, Tyler. She's perfectly fine. We don't need you concerning her. She's going to choose me to rule the society with her. And you are going to be lonely forever." I said to Tyler, and he rolled his eyes, looking back to the front.
"How close are we?" Tyler asked, and I rolled my eyes.
"From what we know, we are about forty-five minutes away from SeaShore." Alia said, and I looked at Ashlyn.
She's so cute, all cuddled up in my lap. I grabbed a blanket I brought with me and I placed it on her, so she doesn't get cold. I sighed and looked out the window, at the beautiful deers and the beautiful nature of this random forest near Burnville. I am going to visit here again when I am older for sure.
I looked at Mads, and she nodded, looking at Jack and Leah, not trusting them. I shrugged, and then she looked at the front and I looked at Ashlyn. She is starting to open her beautiful eyes, and she looked at me. I smiled, and kissed her very softly. She smiled, and then laid back up, going on her phone as she was smiling over at me.
"Are we there yet?" Ashlyn asked me, and I looked at Mads.
"We're a half an hour away," Alia said, and I nodded, as I looked back to Ashlyn, wiping her eyes.
"I was only asleep for a half an hour?" Ashlyn asked me, and I chuckled.
We are in the car, as Ashlyn and I fell asleep back in my lap, and Tyler just looked at me, with a stink eye. I rolled my eyes and looked at Ashlyn, smiling at her little cute face in my lap.
---
We are finally at SeaShore and I sighed, waking up Ashlyn with a little pat on her cheek. She woke up pretty quickly, and I stared at her. She blinked a couple of times and wiped her eyes.
"Where are we?" Ashlyn asked me, and I chuckled, pushing back a piece of her hair.
"We're at your home. Your brother is home too, and so is your little sister." I said to her, and she officially woke up, leaning upwards and looking at the car. Jack, Leah, and Tyler got out, and then Ashlyn climbed over the carseats, opening the car door, and leaving the car.
She walked into the house, and I see from the window that she is hugging her siblings, like she missed them, which is fair. If I was kidnapped twice, and I ran away from everyone I loved dearly, and all that, I would miss my siblings too. I just hope that everything goes to normal once we bring her to her old house, where everything begins.
-Ashlyn-
I missed my brother so much. I don't remember the last time I saw him. He has been my guardian since I was five years old. Since I could remember. I gave him the biggest hug I could possibly give him. He was looking at me concerned and I have so much to tell him.
"Ash, what happened to you? Why do you have these bad bruises all over your face?" He asked me, and I sighed, looking in his eyes as I started crying.
"Sissy, what's wrong?" My little sister asked me and I hugged her, smiling at her while I wiped my tears.
"Brother… I have something to show you.. In private." I said, and he nodded, as my brother and I went up the stairs to my bedroom.
"What is it you need to tell me?" He asked me, and I finally showed him the mark. The secret that I have been keeping from him.
"This mark has gotten me in a lot of trouble. I met my mother. Her name is Alia… and the legend, it isn't just a legend." I said to him, and he widened his eyes.
---
We are on the couch, and we are looking directly at each other, as I played around with my ring. It was orange, and it wasn't burning my finger.
"So, you are the orange mark they are talking about on the news.. And you didn't tell me until now? Five months later?" He asked me and I nodded, sighing at my ring.
"I need to get there tomorrow. Before the triplets, Katherine, and Dysio do. If they get there, the life of this community.. Is over. We won't exist anymore." I said, and he hugged me, wiping my tears from my face.
"No, not tomorrow. We need you there, NOW." My brother said, grabbing my hand and I looked back at the house, and at my sister. I need to protect her, and so I pulled my arm back and he looked at me with a concerning look in my face.
"Why are you resisting? Your life is at risk." He said, and I sighed, looking at my sister.
"I have to do what is right by my sister." I said, and I looked in his eyes.
"This is what is safe for everyone! You won't exist if we don't take you there!" My brother said, and I gulped, looking back in the window as my sister is playing with her little dollhouse on the second floor.
"You're right. Let's go." I said, and he grabbed my arm, taking me to the car. I hopped in next to him and I texted my friends, in the group chat, saying that my brother is taking me there right now, and I sighed, looking out the window.
Life will never be the same. There is a possibility that I am never going to see my sister or my brother again. I thought about that, and how I could possibly be making a mistake by leaving her behind. My powers only work once I turn seventeen. I looked around, and I see that the kids are playing at the park, and I am doing this for the safety of them and their future lives. Even risking the family that raised me through everything I have witnessed.
I see that Katherine's car is next to us, and I can not believe that they are right here. I rolled my eyes, and so my brother started to drive me quicker to the news report building, but Katherine kept trying to bump her car into ours, and I looked to the left of me. I called Damara, and she picked up right away.
"Ashlyn? What's up?" She asked me, and I sighed, looking at Katherine.
"Katherine is right here. She is bumping into my car, as my brother is trying to drive me. We are so close to the news station. Please help us." I said, and I hear Damara shouting at everyone.
"We're on our way. Love you, baby." Damara said, and I smiled.
"Love you too." I replied, and she hung up the call.
My brother drove faster and faster to the station, and once he got there, he opened my door as fast as he could, holding my hand and running to the place as Katherine is right behind us. Another car pulls up, and I am so scared it's Dysio and the triplets, but it's Leah, Jack, and Damara. I smiled, and Katherine looked behind her, seeing Leah with everyone.
"What are you doing with them!" Katherine shouted at Leah, and she held hands with Jack. I chuckled, and then looked at my brother as they just created a diversion. My brother and I banged on the door and Katherine looked at us.
She runs as fast as she possibly can, but then Leah and Jack grab on each arm, and lock her up in the van, as the news report building finally opens, and my brother and I run into the doors, and into the building where the news reporter is located. I stand right in front of her and I looked at my brother.
"I have something to tell you." I said, and she looked at me confused.
"I am the missing mark." I said, and I showed her the piece. Both the ladies exchanged looks.
