Running into the waiting area, we run into a couple of the other seniors that were helping set up. They were all at tables that were set up within the room. They were are all generally cool people. The ones that were here at least.
One would be able hear the low conversations between each of the seniors. Stuff like, "we're finally here," or "where do you think you are going?" etc. are all topics that can be heard from each of them. We had managed to sit down at a table after I greeted a few of the people in here with a few nods and quick hello's.
"By the way, bet you can't guess what academy I saw earlier," One of the guys besides our table had said.
"What did you see?" After seeing the groups attention on him, the guy at the center of the table, said, "Exceed Academy. They're here to attend the ceremony."
"What?!" The sentiment was shared among everyone in the room. Including Kai and Linski.
"Did you hear that?" Linski turned around to face us. Kai says, "Yeah, I did. Chill man, it ain't that big of a deal." Despite saying that, one could see the crazed look in his eye. "You're full of shit man! I know you're just one second away from running to the scouters to tell them who you are and why they should choose you." Linski called Kai on his bluff.
Kai rolls his eyes, then looks at me. "Why aren't you excited? Its EXCEED academy we're talking about here." He was right. I should've been excited.
"He isn't EA material. That's why." I had never rolled my eyes so hard in my life.
"Windell, not today," Linski says coldly. Turning around I faced the most irate woman in my life. Windell Vindebacher. The most stuck up, self obsessed, entitled, bi-…
You get it. She's one of those people that managed to get everything they wanted from their background.
Do not get me wrong. I understand that having a background isn't something you can exactly choose to have. I don't dislike someone just because they are able to have what I can't. Hell, if I could, I would love to be able to have everything I need to grow, and be able to have anything I want. If you are one of those, that's great.
It's when you hold it over people as if you are more important then them that really grinds my gears. Windell is that person. She was born into a good background. Good enough to provide ample training to prepare her for the prep courses she took here in high school.
Windell is about average height for a girl her age. Other then that, she looks above average in all aspects. From her curvy black hair with blonde highlights, her fair skin, and her dark blue eyes, she is a beautiful young lady. At first glance, one would probably think of her at least twice the next day. Until you actually talked to her.
Then again, even if you disliked her, you couldn't do much. Not only is she probably one of the most popular girls in school, she is also number 1 in the whole prep course for specialists. With a ES in five of her prep courses, she is leading the whole school as the most promising future Specialist.
She's never seen with anyone that can't be considered an "elite" of there own right. Even then, she barely hangs out with anyone in the prep course that does not have at least an ES to their name. Just like now, as she surrounds herself with a few other people that have some sort of leadership role. Like the cheerleading squad captain, or the football team's quarter back. Even a few other of those people who got ES assessments. She honestly just thinks "elite" shouldn't have contact with their quote on quote "lessers." Its how she views the world. Anything that doesn't fit the way she views her world, is wrong and should be corrected apparently.
She just so happens to despise the fact that Kai hangs with me. Even more so for Linski. Not only that, she also just so happens to despise me as a person in general. All because I am not an "elite."
"Don't think that just because you managed to somehow pass your courses, that you could be even considered to be accepted into an elite academy such as Exceed Academy," Windell says, ignoring Linski's earlier comment. She faced Linski and looks at him judgingly.
"You are known as someone second only to me. Why are you bringing yourself down to someone of his level," her words were as venomous as the poison she used to pass the assassination tactics class.
Linski looks at her up and down. When Linski is around someone he doesn't know or even likes, his demeanor changes entirely. A sense of cold arrogance can be felt.
"Don't compare me to you, Vindebacher. You being first doesn't mean you can beat me," Linski says, "You still can't win against me in real combat. Much less Emrys who got a higher score then me AND you. One on one, Emrys wins, every time. That's just fact."
Ouch, that's the sore spot. You could actually see the twitch on her face a mile away when he said that. That's the main reason she actually hates me. The fact that I actually got an AS assessment in something she got a Lower MS assessment for. Her perfect ES assessment score in all six prep courses were destroyed by Mr. Lodi's Combative prep course.
I almost started laughing actually. Until my eye caught her right leg moving back into a familiar stance.
A round house kick came, faster then one can be prepared for. Straight at Linski's face.
Kai sees this happen as he yells out, "Linny, left guard!" Linski, also catching on, raises his left arm for a solid block. The sound of a leg hitting flesh could be heard throughout the room. Linski manages to block the kick.
But not the hand stabbing forward with a knife, towards the neck. Linski's eyes widen in shock. Not expecting the sudden knife attack, Linski froze up. Yet it stopped just an inch from his neck.
"Go ahead. Just know it will cost you." Windell's facial expression did not react to the voice.
"When did you get behind me?" She asked calmly, as right behind her, was me, with my own knife in a reverse grip. Any slight movement, and it will be a bad day for the janitor cleaning after the ceremony.
The whole room was quiet. You could hear a heart beating out of someone's chest. Just not sure if that was Linski's or Windell's. Both of them had a straight face. Strangely my own heart beat was calm at the time. I never felt so calm. Despite having the intention to hurt someone for trying to hurt someone I cared about.
Windell's little group of "elites" weren't even able to react at all in the few seconds that everything had all happened in.
Moving in closer, I whisper, "you are getting on nerves I didn't even realize I had. I am not very patient. I do not want to break rules here." Leaning further in towards her ear, "but I will, if you do not drop the knife. Right. Now," I said with a low voice.
In less then a second the knife is dropped. With no hesitation. "Calm yourself, Mr. Kalel," She says. "I was not actually planning on hurting the number two in the whole course. The knife was the retractable kind. You're really the jumpy kind aren-" Her voice stops abruptly as her whole body tenses up, as I drag the knife across her neck.
