I can hear people are talking.
"What happened to my son?" I heard my father's voice. He is asking the person he is having a conversation with. "He is completely healthy Mr. Auon (Aw-on), but he may have eaten something that caused him to faint" a woman's voice replied.
'Oh, right, I fainted' I thought while my eyes were still closed. I'm feeling very tired right now that I just want to sleep again. 'what happened?' I asked myself, feeling confused. I can't remember anything that happened before I fainted.
I opened my eyes. I saw the white curtains and the light on the ceiling. I turned my head to where I thought the conversation was happening, but I saw nothing except for a chair and a consultation table. I looked at the left side and still nothing aside from the drawer near my bed and other beds.
"oh, jarvy you're awake now!" I heard my father's voice coming again from the right side. I looked towards the right side and there I saw my father and the school nurse. 'huh?' I can feel my eyebrow contracted from confusion. What? Is there something wrong with my eyesight? I rubbed my eyes.
Cars drove past our car. I can see people outside doing their everyday things and being mundane through the window. My father is driving. "What happened bud? The nurse said that you might have eaten something bad today" he asked while still focusing on the driveway.
"I don't know, I just-" I was about to say that I don't really remember the reason why I fainted and what I was doing before that, but I can remember that I was in the classroom though. I was looking at those two people in the class and that's the last memory I can recall.
"Maybe it's because of the milk I bought from the canteen, it may be spoiled already" I made an excuse, thinking that If I tell him the truth, he might finally think that there's something wrong with my mind. With all the things that my parents thought of me, this will just add up to their irrational suspicions.
My father patted my head with his right hand while driving. I am still looking at the window, trying to distract myself not to fall asleep again. Out of ordinary, a distance ahead, I saw an odd-looking tree at the center of a paved walk. It's read in color, but not of the same kind as any oak trees. It's also larger than normal trees that the authorities had placed on the sidewalk.
As we got nearer to the tree, I saw that on its trunk, there are strange markings similar to those of alphabetical words that glowed yellow, it covered the whole trunk. The leaves are also glowing, like gold that reflects light.
"Dad, do you see that tree?" I immediately looked at my dad and pointed towards the odd-looking tree. My dad looked at the tree I'm pointing at while we drove past through it. "hmmm, yeah it's always been there since it had been planted" he replied like it was just a normal tree. "Why is it colored red? Is it for any events?" I asked.
I saw that my dad's eyebrows frowned in confusion and looked at me. "red? It's just the same with the other trees on the sidewalk" he replied with a confused look towards me. "Oh, god don't tell me you're becoming color blind bud", he then added, feeling worried.
"Uhhh, hmm, oh that must be because I rubbed my eyes just now, that everything looks red at the moment" I immediately said, trying to avoid any misunderstanding about my eyesight. I looked at my dad and saw that he is not quite convinced but I can see that he believed me.
'shit, what is happening? Everything is very weird. I might also think that there's something wrong with my eyesight' I thought and chuckled at the word "weird" because I'm actually the weird one, before sleeping the whole drive.
"C'mon bud" my father woke me up when we arrived at the house. I unfastened my seatbelt and got off. My father is in front of me walking to the front door and I am walking behind him still feeling a little bit sleepy.
My father touched the knob but out of a sudden, I felt chills as I heard whispers. It's a breathy voice echoing inside my head right now. I closed my eyes and covered my ears as I tried to get rid of the voice, but to no avail, it is still echoing inside my head.
I looked at my dad.
My breathing almost stopped out of the shock.
I can hear my heart beating right now. I saw a floating shadow above my dad. It is covered in dark single clothing that flows along as it hovers in the air.
I rubbed my eyes thinking that it's just one of my imaginations or just hallucinations, but when I opened my eyes again, the shadow in the black cloak was still there.
Before opening the door, my dad looked at me. He got confused again as he probably noticed that I'm sweating and standing still right now. "Jarvy? What's happening?" my dad removed his hand from the knob and turned towards my direction.
As my dad turned, I saw that the shadow above also turned. I saw that it has no face but only black smoke concentrated inside the hood. There are two green lights inside that seems to be its eyes.
'Kesssshhh, neeeehhh raasssaaakk', I heard the breathing whisper again and the whole surrounding turned darker. The normal daylight had turned into a moment of dawn. This time I knew that it was the shadow. It's coming from it.
I felt chills on my nape as I heard its voice again.
My father seems not to notice and see everything.
I'm scared. Fear is consuming me right now, that even made me unable to move and talk.
I saw that as my father slowly walked towards me, the shadow revealed his arm. It is an arm similar to that of the dried corpse. His skin is black and it has no flesh. The shadow is reaching its hand towards my father's back. It's trying to touch him.
'No, dad! Be careful, it's above you!' I wanted to say this, but I'm unable to.
Tears started to fall from my eyes as I kneeled to the ground. I saw that my dad ran towards me with a worried face. "Jarvy!?" he exclaimed, but before he could reach me, the shadow's hand touched my father's back.
My father froze in front of me. His eyes immediately turned white and then the shadow moved his hand as if it's grabbing something.
When it recovered its hand, I saw something on it. It is a ball of green light that seems to come from my dad's back. Then my father fell limp to the ground, lifeless.
My eyes widen and tears fall from my eyes. I'm sitting on the ground right now and I wanted to go to my dad but I can't move. 'Dad!' I screamed in my head.
I saw that the shadow was holding the green light. It raised its hand trying to check on the light.
'Akssh aksh aksh' It whispered again, but this time, it seemed to be laughing and pleased.
I'm very scared right now. I see my dad in front of me, lifeless on the ground. 'Mom' I'm also very worried about my mother, so I looked at the house, but what I saw made me more hopeless. Through the window, I can see that the inside of our house is burning.
The light on the shadow's hand turned into smoke and merged with its whole body, before turning to look at me.
My heart skipped a beat.
I immediately closed my eyes, not wanting to see what will happen.
While my eyes were closed, I heard the sound of metal being dragged on the cement coming from behind me. The sound is getting louder as it closes its distance towards me.
It stopped. I can feel that It's in front of me, but I don't want to look.
"So you're the last key of Solomon huh?" I heard a deep voice of a person.
I then immediately opened my eyes. I saw that in front of me is a man's back with strange clothing. On his hand is a long black sickle. Its point is touching the cement on the ground.
"Pathetic, I expected that the last key would have already realized what's happening," The man said while looking at the agitated floating shadow in front of us.
'Akksssshhhh!!!' I heard that the whisper from before had become a scream of anger. The shadow then flew towards us, but in a split second, it disappeared.
"Even a lesser key would be able to kill that filthy thing", he said while still facing towards my burning house. Tears fell even more as I saw the house.
"Mom, Dad," I said, finally able to talk while crying. I don't even care about this person right now. My heart just aches as I watch my dad on the ground and thinking about my mom inside the house.
"Really pathetic, why cry? When you apparently have brought the end to your world?" I heard the man's voice and then followed by a loud snap of his fingers. My consciousness then slowly fades. This feeling is familiar. I saw my father and the house for the last time before everything went dark.
