The babies popped out of the earth one at a time. The oldest two were boys, followed by two girls, three boys, and the youngest as a girl. For gods, children progressed quickly at a rate 5 times faster than humans. They also lived in their prime forever which would make raising children for gods typically much easier and much more rewarding than for humans.
Thus, eight children wasn't seen as too many but rather a positive. Since Ren was incredibly busy with work, he was unable to do most of the parenting and relied heavily on Mave who didn't have to work as nearly as often or as long. This meant that Mave spent a lot more time with the children.
One peculiar thing that she noticed was that the children were strange, very strange. They all seemed to have one screw loose, with all of them.
The youngest took naps constantly and rarely moved at all. This would have been worrying for humans, but god's couldn't suffer ailments unless they were afflicted by another god. This meant that she was fine, so Mave had chalked it up to her personality.
The second youngest had an enormous appetite and would cry whenever someone touched his food. He was quite the foodie and his appetite was never satiated.
The third youngest had quite a bad habit of getting out of his diaper and crawling around the house. It was impossible to keep him clothed and he would whine whenever some tried to.
The fourth youngest started to make a collection of his toys and would hoard them. It was nearly impossible to get him to leave them and completely impossible for him to willingly give his toys away to someone else.
The fourth eldest was similar to the fourth youngest but she would steal from the others and at the first sign of preferential treatment she would immediately throw a tantrum.
Similarly throwing fits, the third eldest would easily get angry and start breaking her possessions. It was also quite common for her to throw things at the others.
The second eldest seemed the most normal but had the most annoying condescending look on his face all the time whilst he was still in diapers. Even though she was his mother, Mave had shown incredible self restraint by not punting the child like a football.
Most confusing of all was the eldest. The eldest son did nothing unless he was made to. He constantly had a blank look on his face and never showed any emotions. He never played, cried, or threw any tantrums. What worried Mave the most was the dull lifeless eyes he had.
After one month, Mave and Ren (though mostly Mave sense Ren was only home for a couple hours that whole month) had finally come up with names for their children. From oldest to youngest they were Stain, Serba, Ira, Invi, Avar, Lux, Gol, and Cedia.
