He was finding peace in an unexpected place, but at the fourth hour of the new day, the dungeon door opened, and the sound that would take him out of his dreamland was heard.

This time, Baybars came before the darkness of the night gave way to the burning lights of the sun. He was outside the door, a few steps behind the pitch black, and when Mel came out, he involuntarily took a step back and sat on his back on the stairs.
He couldn't hear the mud-camouflaged footsteps, and he didn't know when the person he'd summoned would come out. His body moved without his brain's command as Mel appeared out of nowhere, leaning through the open door.
Dark Energy enveloped Mel's body like armor, and his arms looked like he had undergone a Dragon Transformation. Baybars froze where he fell but could speak again when Dark Energy, seeing the moonlight and returning to the dungeon, left Mel's body.
