It is evident that the question had come from where he was not expecting it. Mel did not open his mouth even though they came halfway down the road. He neither denied nor admitted it, but that wouldn't stop his friend from guessing.
"I guessed so!"
Nalt spoke once more. He could clearly see his friend's face, who bowed his head. Maybe he couldn't get the answer he wanted from the words that were coming out of his mouth, but the expression on Mel's face was enough for him.
"Maybe I'm not as strong or resourceful as you, but believe me, I can understand you. I know the magnitude of the dilemma you fell into, and I am aware that you think your action will hurt one side badly."
The boy with crooked hair kept talking. It was clear that his purpose for walking with Mel was not to ask questions but to spill out what was there in his mind. Obviously, like Mel, he had been thinking about where things were going and his role in that direction for a long time.
