The doctor's expression was as good as a sword, it already drew much blood without much effort and it caused fear to course through the bloodstream of its victim. They all watched his expression and each deciphered it differently but all had suffered under the same power.
Harry wondered if Aria would hate him more if the doctor delivered more news that she couldn't stomach. The girl was wrecked from the beginning she met him and now that her mother was in the hospital, he knew that she would forever resent him for entering into their lives.
All he and Eliana wanted was to fix the mistakes of the past and mend the relationship with each other by being better lovers. By being better people to each other because that was something their hearts truly desired. To be loved with dignity and care but mainly, to be loved with honesty and transparency.
They yearned for the openness and the spoils of lovers who truly appreciated them and though they had met a long time ago, Harry would not regret meeting the star sign that merged well with his own.
He wanted to show her off to the world and for the world to know that he had found a diamond, though in a rough patch, it was perfect and all he had to do was blow away the dust that covered the very eyes he loved to stare into.
But he understood where Aria was coming from, where her hate and concern was brewed from. When he was young, his mother and father had went their own ways and he had followed his mother because she cared more than his very own father. Yet it didn't matter to him, so he figured all would go well as they lived with rarely any fights but only respect and transparency.
That was until his mother tried dating again and all the man ever did was hurt and bruise her. Mentally and physically, but importantly emotionally. Harry had to drop out of school when his mother got sick, take care of her, and make sure that she ate. He became the man of the house at a young age, constantly working and paying because she was placed under strict bed rest.
It was hard for him to be a kid but when she got better, she allowed him to back to school and learn but Harry saw no use. So, he opened his own business with the money he was supposed to study with, and since he had saved up enough money that year. He built up a small business that was able to hire a few young people.
Within three years, he had opened another branch and the business continued to boom in his home state and he stayed there. His mother was proud and didn't have to work anymore because Harry made sure to help her out but as time went on. His mother tried to get in a relationship again and it turned out to be a good guy but because of all the relationships before, Harry found no comfort in the man's reassurance.
There were fights and wars all because he was afraid that the past would repeat itself but it didn't. Instead, all he had done was remind his mother of why she had left his father. It nearly set shame on his shoulders when he found out from behind closed doors.
Harry left his mother's house that very week, angry at how she had never told him her pain but trusted a man that was an outsider. He didn't want to be forced to stomach that pain, didn't want to be forced to stay and watch over everything as though he was crazy.
No, he wanted to be free of being the sword that constantly reminded her mother of her father's pain. So when he got married and had his kids, he made sure to give them love and be open with them. He had never invited his mother or father over to his place and as time went on things went down.
The businesses weren't doing good and the stock market was crashing. One of his farmhouses was burnt down and he couldn't afford to live the rich and arrogant life. He couldn't afford to be living the ignorant life, no he was humbled again by life and realized how important it was to deal with issues and not avoid them.
So he travelled a lot and had to retrench a lot of people so that all the business could be upgraded and that meant having to give up on the great life for a while but his wife only saw the struggle. So, she created and then left when the next offered the best, but Harry wasn't bothered, he could see how she had begun to drift away from him and it worked in his favor.
Because it had meant he could invest in his children's future and not have to worry about anything. He had spent so much time, with them and around that he hadn't realized that there was still trouble in certain areas until he got a phone call on one dreadful night and was told that his father was dying of cancer.
When he had gone to see the old man, he found him in his bed speaking to his other children, he knew nothing about it, he was surprised to find him tearing when he saw Harry enter. The old man had known how their relationship had vanished when he had left his mother and barely bothered to contact or support his son.
But the man had told his son how he was proud and how he wished for things to go his way. When the man had died, he had attended the funeral but a week later was called in for the will hearing and was told that he would be receiving fifty percent of everything.
No one had expected that and it had caused an uproar in his last family, Harry had been so stunned he left and went straight to his local bar. Drinking away his confusion and sorrow, only for his eyes to land upon the woman drinking and dancing carefully on the dance floor with her friends.
Aria's mother was the one to catch his eye, her aura seemed to be one that drew in people and she saw no shame in dancing and enjoying her time. He saw the carefree bird and when they had gotten to know each other. She had helped him heal, helped him contact his mother, and apologize for his pride.
His relationship with many of his family was straightened, all because of her advice and understanding. He was in awe of her and even more in awe of how she was equal in the relationship. Taking her time to spoil him, even though he always tried to spoil her and never ask for anything in return.
Yet now he wondered, what would happen to the very woman he wanted to marry and be with for the rest of their lives?
