After my baggage was checked and all the formalities were completed, I boarded the plane and was on my way to see my family. I got out my diary on the plane and decided to make a TO-DO list of things to do once I arrived in Singapore... I considered it but ultimately decided to go to Chinatown first and buy New Year's presents for everyone.
It was a five-hour flight, and I finally stepped off the plane at 8:00 p.m. So I checked into a nearby hotel for the night. The flight had torn my body apart to the point where I was sore, but that was not my primary motivation for flying down to my homeland; I was full of zeal for the New Year celebrations with my family and hope that this year would be no different.
