Edison wore a black suit jacket over a white shirt and black dress pants to go with it. And he went out of the house while wearing his sunglasses.
A bright blue sports car parked in front of the corporate building of Shooting Star. A slender hand opened the door and a girl got out leisurely. She handed the keys to a guard and said, "Careful, it's a rare piece." her had a calm and elegant aura.
The guard nodded and said- a little dazed by the beauty in front of him, "Don't worry, ma'am. Your car will be safe."
Liliana pushed her hair over her shoulder and took confident strides toward the glass doors of the building.
The modern decoration of the entire floor would take one's breath away. The white walls and furnishings added to the calm front of the reception floor. There were bits of plantation here and there, potted plants in creases where they would look nice.
Liliana scanned the place, her deep inky eyes taking everything in. People waiting on the couches, some languid while some jittery. Many walked around in professional attires, an unmistakable poise in their gait. And finally her destination, the reception. There were three receptionists, two girls and a guy. They were busy with their monitor or the telephone except one, she was check her fingernails with all the time in the world.
Liliana quirked an eyebrow and stepped in front of the girl who was still checking her nails like the most precious treasure. She felt her lips twitch but said nothing. She raised her hand and knocked on the desk instead.
The girl was caught off guard by the sound. She looked up abruptly and came to face a girl who's beauty preceded every compliment she could think of. Ravel hair, red lips and just enough makeup on her face. A pair of sunglasses concealed her eyes but she had a hunch that she knew how those eyes looked. 'OMG! Is she who I think she is?' was going through her head.
"Liliana D'crus. I have a meeting with Mr. Edison George."
The receptionist thought again, 'My goodness! She really is Lilia.'
She didn't know how to handle her overflowing giddiness and so did what was expected of her. "Please, wait a second ma'am. Let me check." She called Jeremy as per formality and said, "This way, ma'am. 22nd floor, Mr. Strayford will lead you from there."
Liliana looked at the smiling girl and her impression of the girl improved. She wasn't as bad as she thought at first. She did her work diligently. Mostly.
Liliana looked at her nameplate and smiled slightly, "Thank you, Sherry."
Sherry was frozen in shook, afraid she heard wrong, that her idol didn't just take her name. By the time she was out of it Liliana was in the elevator.
Sherry took a sharp breath and 'patted' her colleague to get her attention.
"Why are you slapping me?" the girl whisper-yelled.
"I'm not slapping you I'm calling you! I just saw Lilia and she smiled at me and she took my name." She could barely make out what Sherry meant from her fast delivery of speech.
Sherry was jumping up and down but the girl brought her to a stop. "Lilia, as in..."
Sherry tsk-tsked, "Lilia, Liliana D'crus the superstar with voice that would make the angels envious." she was eyeing her friend like she knew nothing but the girl just rolled her eyes.
"You mean Liliana D'crus is here?"
"Duh! I just saw her. She told me her name and called me by mine! She even knows my name." she sounded like her most aspired dream had come true.
"We wear something called a nameplate which has our names written on it in bold letters." her friend was relatively calm. After all she didn't mingle in the idol business thus didn't go crazy at the sight of Liliana. So, she let Sherry rant about her brief encounter with Liliana D'crus in the dreamiest of phrases, not caring to remind her that she forgot to ask for her idol's autograph.
It had been an hour since Edison stepped into his office. Till now all he was doing was going through the pile of paperwork stacked on his desk. A pile that remained there every morning, only, new reports and files replaced old ones.
Edison rubbed his forehead. Today was going to extremely stressful, he could already tell. More so because of how tired he was from sleeping.
He turned his chair subtly, facing the floor to ceiling windows covering one wall of his office.
The cottony woven structures moving unceasingly, following a pattern they couldn't break- was what he saw. It was depressing how they moved so slow that a man was forced to question whether they were moving at all. It was more depressing that they couldn't just stop for once to take a break. Universe's laws. Unbreakable.
The door clicked and he turned back to look. A slender figure came in view- long legs, narrow waist and a nice bust. Edison gave more attention at noticing the beauty being revealed before his eyes than he probably should have but he was a victim to the killer body in front of him.
"Sir, this is Ms. Liliana D'crus. You have a meeting with her."
Edison looked behind her and saw Jeremy coming in. He nodded in acknowledgement and said, "I know Jeremy. I am not old enough to forget things so soon."
Jeremy blushed a little in embarrassment, he just wanted to bring his boss out of the ogling phase. Liliana, so far, was better than most stars he had seen. He didn't want Edison's rarely awoke lancsivious side to ruin the girl's first impression.
"I'll get back to work." he walked out with that.
Edison looked at the door closing and returned his focus to the person before him. The sight made him curse in his mind. What he had seen in photos was nothing compared to the Liliana in real. She was a devastating beauty,
'One to make birds sing and nature dance,
Her one look can bring the world down at once.'
Edison thought. Her eyes inspired him to do so. Her eyes. They were so reflective, yet so concealing. They told of everything yet nothing was discovered. Making the desire to know everything claw at one's heart. She could make people want to see through that veil even if it meant walking through fire. She could make him_
He brought his thoughts to a halt. His thoughts were slipping too far and down. He only noticed all this because that would help him analysis her better. Yes, that's all. No drowning in the enigma called Liliana D'crus. 'Shut the fuck up, man.' he told himself.
The clicking of heels made him follow her movements. She came forward and held her hand out for a handshake, "Hi, I'm Liliana D'crus," she said with her intoxicating voice.
Edison stood up and took her hand, it was soft and warm. He tried to remain stoic, "Hello, I'm Edison George." but his voice came out slightly deeper. Why this one girl, he hadn't even met before today, was effecting his so much- he had no idea.
