Chapter 4 - Archivists Of The Dining Table

The entire table sat in silence, all taking in each others trauma, only expecting small event, not Hypatia to have been a sacrifice, Landon abducted, Harriet a retired soldier, Carrie an abuse victim with DID and Holloway an excluded daughter for a murder she never committed. Landon poured himself another drink, drinking it quickly nobody dared to break the groups silence. Carrie soon spoke, but it was clear that her alter had taken over after she had brought up her possibly forgotten trauma, "I believe this conversation has made it clear what Halls intention with us is." Harriet turned to her, "What do you mean?" Carrie stood, "Isn't it obvious, Halls will use our trauma in mix with our abilities to keep us working for her, there has to be a purpose behind translating so many books other than universities or collages wanting an English translation." Hypatia downed her drink, "She's right you know, it's no childish coincidence that we all have deep and forgotten trauma and a strong mental power, there has to be some sort of deeper meaning."

Harriet lent back in his chair, "But it's far to early to confront her, we wont have enough proof, and plus we have no idea what she's hiding. Regardless, as long as we keep the extent of our powers from her, and what she could use against us from her by any means necessary, we should have enough time to try to find what she could be hiding." Landon stood, "Your right, but nonetheless, it's getting late, Harriet can you show Holloway to her room, i'll clean up, Hypatia, Carrie, head to bed too, we've all had a long evening." As Landon began to pick up glasses from the table Hypatia and Carrie stood and left to the staircase in the common room, Holloway followed Harriet close behind the two girls. As Carrie and Hypatia left to their rooms after approaching the landing Harriet turned to Holloway, "Hey sorry if your first day was a little much, i'm guessing you don't often spill your trauma to a bunch of strangers?" Holloway laughed, "You wouldn't be wrong there." Harriet continued down the landing until he stopped at a door next to the one Carrie walked into.

"This is your room, have a good night, i'll wake you up at six for breakfast, and if you need anything, my room is down the hall and the first room on the left." Harriet walked off, but not to his room, back down the stairs to the common area, Holloway thought nothing of it and entered her room. Harriet walked downstairs and entered the kitchen just as Landon had finished tidying the dining table. Turning and seeing Harriet lent against the door frame Landon gave Harriet a weak smile, "You doing alright Landon?" Looking back up to him with defeat and sorrow in his eyes, "Yeah- yeah, i'm good. No need to worry about me." Harriet scoffed, "Well, there is. Your not just another archivist i work with your my friend, and i want to help if i can." Landon sighed and turned walking over to the counter and lent on it, "It's just, talking about all of, that earlier just brought up some feelings that i haven't experienced in a long time, i'm just struggling to deal with them." Harriet walked over and wrapped a supportive arm over Landon's shoulders.

"I'm not going to say i understand because well, i don't we all have gone through drastically different things, regardless how or if they tie in with the feelings that coincide with them we all cope and experience said emotions and feelings differently, like we both experience guilt but neither of us cope with it in the same way." Landon gave another weak smile, but thank full Harriet wasn't one of those people who just said they understood when they clearly didn't. "I didn't expect Hypatia to be an ex Egyptian high priestess, that was defiantly the most surprising part of tonight" Landon spoke as Harriet walked over to the sink to get a glass of water for Landon and himself. Handing it to him Landon thanked him. "Yeah, but something about Holloway's story just doesn't sit right with me, i mean, after she told us about coming home from Czechoslovakia she seemed quick to finish talking." Landon nodded after taking a drink of water, "I'm glad i wasn't the only one who noticed, we can ask Hypatia if she sensed anything off with it in the morning." Harriet shrugged, "Maybe she just didn't want to get to far into it, but i suppose it would be worth a try, just trying to convince Hypatia to do it will be the biggest struggle."

Landon nodded while walking over to the sink to wash out his glass, "You know when Hypatia told Holloway about Halls?" Harriet nodded, "Yeah, what about it?". "Well, she said that's all she could get from the keepers, that implies she hasn't met Halls either, you think Holloway did?" Shrugging he lent against the door frame "Possibly, we can ask her at breakfast about it."
