Chapter 2 - Poisons and fake doctors

"M-Mr. Black, good evening." I pause listening to him. "Ok. I'll be right there." I quickly collected my things.

Jenny raises her brow and smirks. "My, my Mimi... Who is this Mr. Black? Is he hot?"

"Right. Is he your boyfriend? How come you haven't told us about him, hmm?" Vivi wiggles her brow. I roll my eyes and scoffed.

"Ok firstly" I hold up a finger "yes, he is hot. Secondly," I put up a second finger "my boyfriend? Hah! Bich where? He's my boss. The owner of the hotel I work part time at. Lastly I gotta go to his office he seemed pissed."

I pick up my bag. "Should I drop you guys home or are you gonna take the bus?" I look up at them.

Jenny picks up a fry. "Eh. I'll take the bus. I wanna stay out a little more." Vivi nods in agreement "Me too!"

"Ok... I gotta go then bye!" I wave and speed off.

~at the office-

I knocked at the door. I hear Mr. Black say "Come in." So I opened the door. I saw two men. I walk up and give a slight nod to the both of them. Then turned my gaze towards my boss.

"Good evening, Mr. Black. What is it that you need from me?" I question.

"Miss Willow. My client here,"He pointed towards the man. "Mr. de Luca has some complaints of you."

"Huh?" I gave a confused look. "But how is that possible? I have never even seen or heard of him. Moreover I simply a pianist in the hotel."

"Miss Willow, Mr. de Luca thinks that you have poisoned his son." His blue eyes felt like ice, his voice like wise. "and wants me to fire you."

I stepped back in shock, my eyes widened in disbelief. I close my eyes to calm myself as to not act rashly. "Mr. Black. Mr. de Luca. With all due respect. I'm sure there must be some mistake. I would never try to poison anyone. What proof do you have?"

"What proof?" Mr.de Luca scoffed. "My son's words and the state he is in right now. Isn't that enough. He is in our hotel room sick in bed right now. He has never ever been this sick! Do you know how worried I was? Then when I asked him if he ate or took something strange. You know what he said?" Mr. de Lucastepped closer to me.

I shook my head. "No I don't."

"He said the pretty pianist lady gave him a green looking liquid yesterday. The only thing that he hasn't seen before since we arrived here from Italy!" He got angry. I flinch at his tone.

"Mr. de Luca please calm down. I don't rememver eve-" As I tried to reassure him I suddenly remembered the 12 year old boy from yesterday.

"Calm down. I'm staying as calm as I can. You know I could call the police for attempted murder? How dare you deny and tell me to calm down! If you were a parent you would understand." Mr. de Luca glared at me with such intensity I'm sure i'd be six feet underground.

I sigh and smile as his worry and anger reminded me of my mothers when I was in a similar situation. "Mr. de Luca, I can definitely not understand your worry to the full extent. But I can understand a little. I can assure you that I never poisoned him. I thoroughly questioned him if he had allergies or anything of the sort. So unless he is allergic to mint or lantana. It is definitely not the herbal medicine's fault."

"Lantana! That's one of the most dangerous plants recorded! How could you give it to my son. You shouldn't play doctor when you know nothing of it."

As I was about to speak Mr. Black spoke. "That's enough Miss Willow. You have made my client angry enough already. Why don't we speak about your punishment."

My mouth fell open in disbelief. "Yes, lets speak about it. I think she should get extra punishment for angering me even more. Let her learn not to play fake doctor."

I scoff and mumble to myself. "Tsk, fake doctor. What fake doctor. I'll make you eat your word."

I had enough and no longer wanted to play nice and understanding. "And what if I'm not at fault? What if I'm not a fake doctor? Will you apologize to me? Or will you try to save your pride and still act this way?

When I finished I had two angry men glaring at me. Great... Just perfect...what have I done.

"Miss Willow, did I not say enough? Why can't you just be quiet?" I heard my boss speak.

"Well, I'm sorry but I feel insulted. If I am actually wrong I will apologize and shut up. However if I feel that I am wronged, I will not sit back and let you bully me." I tried to stay calm and control my anger.

"You are quite talkative. Don't you know what happens when you plead guilty and aren't? Moreover Mr. Black and I are powerful men. Shouldn't you be afraid you'll lose your job and go bankrupt?" Mr. de Luca remarked.

I roll my eyes. "Have you ever heard of studying your target thoroughly before attacking Mr. de Luca?" I sigh and shook my head. "Two powerful men?" I raise my eyebrow as I walk over to the bosses table. "If that is so I hope you actually are and don't have to man up to apologize."

I place my hospital badge on the table and look down at it. Then turn my gaze to both men. 'Well?" I raise my eyebrow. "You said you are men. Will you apologize for being wrong?"

"I- Well, how do I know it's not fake." Mr. de Luca questioned.

I sigh and shake my head once again and pulled my phone out to search for the picture with my Diploma. Once I found it I held it up towards them. "Is this enough proof for you?"

The men looked at my phone and then at each other as if communicating. When they finally turned their gazes towards me I noticed guilt for a split second in their eyes but it was gone the next.

"Oh! And FYI I applied the medicine to his wound s. I neveractually let him consume it. As if merely touching the plant can kill you. I'll have you know my goat ate many of it's leaves and didn't die. Do you know how many times I touched and smelled it as a kid! Even put it on my sister's hair. Neither of us are dead." I scoff. "You know nothing at all!

Both men looked at me awkwardly as I had started rambling.

"My apologies, I have wrongly accused you." They both sat at the same time.

I'll have "I let out a hum and cross my arms. "I will let it go this time since I understand that you were worried for your son Mr. de Luca. In my younger years my mother was very much like you when I was a child. So I can understand a little. But I would recommend to let your doctor check what is causing your son's sickness. You are in a new country after all. There could be many factors."

Mr. de Luca nods his head. "I will. Is there something I could do to show you I sincerely apologize Miss Willow?"

I look up thinking about it. "Well... There is one thing." I grinned and rubbed my neck nervously.
