Illana stood still, yet sneaky mischief shining bright in her eyes.
The holographic display of the arcade game shifted once again. Earth tremors filled the arena with cracks and debris.
As a way to reduce the jarring effects of the game, the world had a quick cross transition that replaced the broken arena back into its pristine state.
At this moment, Trex realized that the game functions similar to a really popular arcade fighting game back on Earth. The game doesn't end after a single fight.
[Waiting for another player]
[Here comes the next challenger!]
In front of Trex, a slightly curvy figure slowly formed. Cloth tied from her shoulders flowed along with the breeze.
Two runic orb orbits around her as if she was the sun of her own solar system.
Slowly her details appeared in front of Trex's eyes.
The orbs were shining silver and gold, just like her heterochromatic eyes.
The two red scarfs-like clothes tied on her shoulders were actually glowing crimson as if they were soaked in blood.
Wearing a red, silver, and gold Asian gown, her radiating aura makes Trex feels extreme unease. For some reason, it seems like the woman in front of her thrived in a blood bath.

[Fight!]
It didn't even take a quarter of a second before spell circles appeared in the small arena.
Around Trex appeared misty lines curved slowly around the arena. This was air line, a spell that created cables of air that could let the caster glide along with them.
On the contrary, around Zoe was starting to distort as if the radiating heat from the ground could melt steel.
The air lines that were closer to Zoe began to distort as well and fade.
In two and a half seconds, Trex managed to cast a T1-L5 Air Line spell while Zoe managed to cast a T1-L6 Heat Wave.
The seemingly minute difference rang an alarm in Trex's head. Earlier, the voices of Viden and Bren were calm as they guided him; now, there was a tinge of worry.
["Heat wave is a spell that works very well at covering a large part of the arena with extremely high temperatures. Note that the place itself would not be physically hot, but just like every matter in the universe, heat is a form of energy that reacts with other energy including mana."]
Trex didn't feel surprised. This was elementary science, after all. However, the weird thing is that his guide makes it seem like the spell was something beyond reasonable.
["Most of your spells wouldn't work with this as shadow spells hate the light, and heat produces light, it might not be visible, but this is what the wave is for."]
["We don't know what exactly a wave does, but it seems to affect everything that isn't physical. This makes the spell really deadly."]
This time, Trex understood. The effects of the spell are unknown to them due to the lack of study in the theoretical physics department. Strangely, the way that they named the spell as 'Heat wave,' could it be a coincidence for being spot on?
Trex didn't reply. Obviously, these people are dead and lack consciousness. It was just his interpretation of the experience that it seemed like it was instructing him.
Still, with the knowledge that heat waves only affect the mystical side of things, he felt like there's a way.
Due to the nature of being a scout, most of Viden's magic leaned onto the side of assassination, which is why most of the magic Trex had selected leaned onto shadows and impales. If it weren't for Bren Draec, who dealt the most damage on a larger scale, Trex wouldn't have any elemental spells.
That was Ice Bolt and Lightning Field.
Clearly, 'ice bolt' is something that doesn't need to be considered. The heat wave could melt metal at all, what more for a chunk of ice.
Fortunately for him, 'heat wave' at this level could melt metal made from magic. But that was its limit, around 1700 degrees celsius. One spell he had goes over 50,000 degrees celsius in a snap.
Lightning Field and Thunder Round are spells that are two sides of the same coin. Both are T1-L6 spells and are incredibly effective on their own.
It was there that another spell circle appeared on Trex's feet. In front of him was Zoe casting a spell from her hands. Unlike the eight-runic circle that Trex had cast, Zoe only cast four. A T1-L2 spell.
It didn't even take a second as mana distorted even more around Zoe as shards of metals appeared.
As soon as they appeared, their metallic gleam quickly turned glowing yellow. It was heated by 'heat wave.' With a wave of her hand, the bright shards flew towards Trex.
Trex's eyes bulged as he immediately canceled his spell.
Grabbing a line, he immediately glided as if he were zip-lining through cables.

Nine
Fifteen
Over twenty-three metallic shards shot out towards Trex at various angles.
*Zhoom*
*Zhoom*
*Zhoom*
Piercing sounds resounded around Trex as he began to move his body to avoid getting hit by the shards.
*Zhoom*
*Zhoom*
*Zhick*
Unfortunately for him, knowledge is knowledge, and experience is experience.
Having knowledge without experience is just a reference. Having experience without knowledge is blindness.
It's already insane for him to adjust to the quick response and inhuman reflex he'd displayed.
With a spurt of blood, his arms got cut.
It was a good thing that it was only a game. While Trex did feel like he got cut in his arms, there were no actual cuts in his body. The pain he felt was just an illusion and wasn't really that bad.
Three more missed him yet another hit.
This time Trex felt disoriented. All the memories, experiences, and knowledge in his head are warning him of being in lethal danger. Yet his own mind remains personally aware of things as just a game.
