Chapter 6 - STUDIO

The fact that yesterday I met the leader and lead singer of the group MNKS, and it wasn't a good first impression, had me depressed the whole night. I skipped out on the tour around the building just in case I'd run into another member of MNKS or a different celebrity and make yet another bad impression.

Of course, I still have to know my way around the place but I decided to were sunglasses and a hat to cover my face and hair so Jax wouldn't recognize me if he ran into me. I left it with my bag, it carried my songbook, a voice recorder and some food made by Melody.

Melody made them for me yesterday but I forgot to eat them.

I take out my phone and dial Melody's number. She picks up on the second ring.

"Hello?" Said the sweet voice from the other end.

"Hey Melody it's Mackenzie, I forgot to call you last night but I just wanted to let you know I settled in nicely." Melody giggles.

"Oh yeah? Make any friends yet? Meet any celebrities?" I sigh and grab my nose. The memories of yesterday with Nathaniel came flooding back and I instantly got a headache. "No friends, I met two celebrities though." Melody got excited on the other end.

"OMG, who!" I laugh at her energy. I smile around Melody, her negative emotions aren't strong but when she's happy, she's a blast of sunshine. I like being around her.

"Two people from MNKS." Melody laughed. "I love them was one of them Kenric? He's my favorite!" I smile. "Yeah I met him first, then I met the lead singer." Melody couldn't say anything because someone interrupted.

"Darling, who are you speaking to?" A voice from behind said. "Oh grandpa, I'll tell you when I'm done talking to him." The man got angry telling Melody she was too young to date or talk to boys. Melody apologized and hung up after saying goodbye.

I laugh and make my way down the hallway. I text Melvin, asking for directions to the music studio and the acting studio. He replied immediately sending me a map of the two buildings. The recording studio was on the second floor of this building and the acting studio was out back in the warehouses.

The lot owned by STAR entertainment was much bigger than what you'd see on a university campus. It had everything including its stadium for concerts and plays.

I went to the music studio first to check out what I have to work with. As I walk in the room was dark and set the mood. The panel brands new and taken care of. I was alone thank god, so I took off my hat and glasses and placed it on the couch that was set up against the wall.

I go to the panel and listen to the tracks to see if there was one available. Track three was free so I went into the studio and started to sing one of the songs I wrote. My eyes were closed and right now I was singing acapella without any instruments whatsoever still trying to work out the bases.

I was alone until a couple of people walk into the studio and watch me sing for a minute. I open my eyes and see five familiar faces. Four of them were faces of the members of MNKS and the fifth face belonged to my good friend Melvin Clarke.

I was a little embarrassed because the celebrity's faces were gaping while Melvin was smiling ear to ear. I walk out of the studio and introduce myself.

"Hello, my name is Mackenzie Barnes, I just started living here yesterday, it's a pleasure to meet you guys," I said politely shaking all of their hands.

"It's good to see you again, I didn't know you could sing that well," Kenric adds while shaking my hand smiling. I smile back at him. "Hello Nathaniel, It's a pleasure to see you again," I say shaking his hand. He squeezes it and I keep my straight face, not moving a single muscle. "Please, the pleasure was all mine."

"Anyway! I'm Myles Clove the heart and soul of MNKS, this is Shane Rodriguez, the only way he'll listen to you is if you have a hand full of skittles!" Shane punches Myles in the arm.

"I'm Shane, Myles is the idiot, I'm not a skittle person."

"Fine, sorry M&M's same thing."

"They're not the same thing and you know it!" I laugh at their banter while Melvin stands there awkwardly.

"MNKS, Mackenzie, we need to go over some things before we can start the day."

We all sat down somewhere, I sat on the couch beside Shane and Kenric, Nathaniel sat in the producer's chair and Myles sat on the coffee table. Melvin was standing up while he explained what needed to be done.

Melvin left and we were left alone in the lion's pit without warning. MNKS immediately went onto the plan. They argued and I came up with an idea.

"How about the first couple hours of the day could go to Amelia, I can have the studio from 10 to 1 every day and you guys have 2- 5." Kenric smiled at me, and Nathaniel scoffed.

"Weren't you listening? I have worked at 5."

"I was listening, so what you get 30 fewer minutes of studio time, it's not like they'll do nothing for that time. I work from 2 to 2, night shift. I can't have a night studio and from what I've heard Amelia, is an early bird. This is the only way we can have it." I explain. Kenric stood up and patted my shoulder.

"I agree with Mackenzie on this one, during the 30 minutes your not there I can get some practice in, Myles has an acting gig to rehearse and Shane has some music to create, we'll be productive, I know how much you hate slacking off."

"Fine then It's settled, it's 9: 40, I guess that means you have the studio right now Mack."

"Mackenzie, don't call me Mack."

"Whatever you say, Mack."
