Once upon a time, in the vastness of the universe, there existed a powerful God known as Shiva. He is one of the three main Gods in the Hindu religion, along with God Brahma and God Vishnu.
The Three main Gods are known as Tridev(Trinity).
1)Brahma-The creator
2)Vishnu-The preservor
3)Shiva-The Destroyer
God Shiva was known for his unique appearance, with a third eye in the middle of his forehead, matted hair, and a serpent coiled around his neck. He was also known as the "Lord of Dance" and was often depicted performing the cosmic dance, which represented the eternal cycle of creation and destruction(Nataraj).
During the time of Sea churning by Gods and Demons in search of Elixir of eternal Life-Amrita. A very powerful Poison came in existence endangering the Lives of Gods and Demons.
All Demons and Gods prayed to Supreme God Shiva for help. Supreme God Shiva appeared and drank that poison. The toxicity of the poison God Shiva drank made his throat blue. This is how God Shiva got Another name - Neelkanth( Blue throated person who has taken poison in his throat.
Despite his fearsome appearance, Shiva is a kind and compassionate deity, known for his love of meditation and his devotion to his wife, Parvati. Together, they had two sons, Kartikeya(Eldest Son) and Ganesha.
Great Demon Tarakasura performed severe penance for thousands of years. After a long time, Shiva appeared in front of him. Tarakasura asked for a boon that he can only be killed by Shiva's son. He knew that Shiva's wife Sati had just died childless and Shiva wasn't planning on marrying again.
Shiva granted him the boon. Thus, Tarakasura became invincible.
His idea of asking this boon was because God Shiva is known for his recluse and hermit personality. God Shiva 1st wife was Mata Sati who brought him from recluse to married life. But she sacrificed herself for Shiva. Everyone thought Shiva will remain single after her. And God Shiva doesn't have any son that time. That's why Tarakasura asked for this boon from God Shiva.
After having the boon Great demon known as Tarakasura had grown so powerful that he had become a threat to the entire universe. No one was strong enough to defeat him, because of the boon only Shiva's son can defeat and kill him.
The Gods knew about Tarakasura's boon. But they also knew that after Sati's self-immolation, Shiva was not going to marry again. They decided to attempt to bring about a marriage between Shiva and Parvati, the daughter of Himavat and Mena. After many futile attempts and intense penance by Parvati, Shiva and Parvati were finally wedded.
Mata Parvati was the Mata Sati reincarnation.
Soon, they had a son named Kartikeya. .
Kartikeya was a skilled warrior, and he set out to battle Tarakasura. However, the demon has become very powerful. No weapon was able to even injure him.
Kartikeya knew that he would need a powerful weapon to defeat Tarakasura. He decided to meditate upon his father, Shiva, in order to gain his blessing and obtain the weapon he needed to win this battle.
Shiva was pleased with his son's devotion and appeared before him. He granted him the weapon, a powerful spear, and instructed him to defeat Tarakasura.
Kartikeya was successful in his mission, and the universe was saved from destruction. Shiva was proud of his son and his bravery.
Kartikeya became famous with the Name of God of wara, Murugan. Kartikeya became to be a source of strength and bravery.
Another Battle of Good and Evil in which Good won again.
And so, the story of Shiva and his family became a beloved tale in Hindu mythology, reminding people of the importance of devotion, meditation, and compassion in the face of adversity. No matter how strong Evil is, Good will always win.
