Chereads / To you, my regret (WIP MANY CHANGES) / Chapter 5 - 4 - Unexpected Visit

Chapter 5 - 4 - Unexpected Visit

I sat on my desk, focusing on writing for my next release. It was lunch break, and I had 15 minutes left of it. And I have to make the most of the free time I had left. But something appeared next to me, an unexpected guest. I looked up and saw Cindy smiling, holding her notebook.

"Hi, Sam! You're good with English, right?" she asked, "Can you help me with today's lesson? I'm still confused,"

I've never been asked by someone as smart and talented as her. Does she not know her ranking in the last semester? She's third out of a hundred students! But as smart as she may be, it's expected that she asked for help from someone like me. Heck, I'm actually second highest if English score is the only score that matters in a report card.

"Sure, but maybe after school?" I said to her, "Kinda busy here-. "

She looks at my writing, "Ah! Are you writing for your next release?"

I was surprised at her reaction, "Y-yeah," I murmured.

She then took Rick's seat, sat next to me, and read the story I was working on. Apart from me wanted to shift my writing hand in a way where she can read it more clearly. But I tried to act naturally and focus on writing.

But there's no way I can focus on this situation! Other than her being here, I can sense an intense glare from other male students. I glanced at Cindy, and I could barely see her trying to read, but my hand was in the way.

I sighed and grabbed a finished draft of the first three chapters and gave it to her. Now I can finally write in peace.

*

This can't be! An exclusive chance to read his first draft of his new release! OMG! I get to read this before his editor has the opportunity! I held the papers in my hand. On the first page, the title, "To you, my regret." Four words and two questions appear in my mind. First, who is the "you" this book is referencing? And then second, what regret does this person have to "you"?

"Sorry if there are some mistakes; it's the first draft. And I don't know if I'm going to keep it or not," Sam said to me.

It wasn't perfect, but it was indeed impressive. Sadly, I haven't covered the whole chapters, and the bell has rung. I handed back Sam's drafts.

"You can keep it for now. Just return it to me after I'm done," he said.

I returned to my desk and placed the papers under my desk. I wished he paid a little more attention to me. I thought.

**

It was after school, and almost I had forgotten about my promise to Cindy. So I called home and told my mom that I'm going to be a bit late.

I sat on my desk, alone. She said she had to do something first. So I sat there alone, waiting for her. I looked at Lisa's desk; her bag is still there. A black school bag with animal key chains, a white and a black cat.

Then I heard someone walking into the classroom, it was Lisa.

"Sam? You haven't gone home yet?" She asked,

"I can say the same for yourself. Why are you still here?"

"Documentations and stuff," she went to her desk and picked up her bag.

"Wait, can we talk a bit?" I blurted suddenly. It took every single one of my courage to say it.

She waited and think. And she shrugged and sat down on her desk. "Have something to say?" she asked.

Crap… I have no idea what to say. I thought.

"S-so… do you know what club you're joining?" I spitted out a question.

"Hmm… I don't know. Soccer is interesting, but there's not a lot of females in it. Maybe I'll join the music club," she replied. "What about you? What club are you in?"

"Well, I always wanted to join the literature club, but that doesn't exist here, sadly. So I- joined the Go-Home club," I told her.

She laughed, "What's that?" then she asked. "Wait, let me guess… you're not in any of the clubs?" she guessed.

"Yeah,"

"That's a weird way of saying it," she chuckled. Her laugh is really heart-warming. It makes my heart skip; I'm trying my best to hide it.

Then Cindy appeared out of the door and walked towards us.

"I'm ready, or do you have any other plans in mind?" She said to me, in English.

Lisa stood up, "Oh, I was just about to leave, see you, Sam. Bye Lisa," and she left the room.

Cindy sat on Lisa's chair and pushed her desk closer to mine. "Can we start?" she asked.

"Uh… sure."

It was five in the evening. The sun was about to set, and the school was very quiet. As if it's only the both of us in the school. I tried my best to teach her English. But oddly enough, I feel like she already understood very well about the topic.

After we did a quick quiz from the book, I checked, and it seems like most of the questions she answered correctly. So I asked her. "It looks like you know very well about the topic. So why did you ask me to help you with this in the first place?"

She didn't reply. She didn't look at me to answer. But then she held my hand; I was surprised. I looked at her, and I could see her cheeks blushing. She looks at me with a smile.

"I love you," she said.

An unexpected declaration of love. I couldn't help but blush. Many things went through my head, mostly me saying "Eh? Eh?" in my mind.

"H-how come?" I asked.

"It was your book that made me fall in love with you," she said. Oh, so that's what she meant. She fell in love with my book. Hold up, read that sentence again.

"My book?" I questioned,

"Your story, it moved my heart. It really felt like an unrealistic thing to think that a book made me fall in love with you. But it is true.

You didn't write your story because you wanted to; you wrote it because you wanted to express what you feel, isn't it? And your new book; it was because of her."

"W-what do you mean?"

"The feelings you held for her all this time, and the stupid chance that she suddenly returned to your life. You wanted to fix your past; by changing the present. This what you meant by "Destiny is intangible." But you left out the fact that it depends on fate; whatever it is that you do, that becomes your fate. And once your fate is sealed, it will become your destiny,"

"So for my destiny to be how I wanted it to become, I'm going to seal my fate; with you,"

She leaned forward and kissed me, my first kiss.
