Finally, we're finished with our general studies. Since we turned 14, we graduated from regular boring lessons and start to pick a career path for ourselves. Of course, with someone born with the Hero mark, he didn't have a choice but to become an adventurer...and where Conlan goes, for better or worse, I'm sure to follow...even if it's begrudgingly. "You're going to love the adventuring course. With me as the Hero and you as my marksman watching my back, there's nothing we won't be able to do." He says while walking in front of me as we head to these classes. "You mean we'll be able to do anything." I say commenting on his double negative. "Didn't I not just say that, Rosa?" He said back grinning at me. I just roll my eyes not wanting to correct him again despite his efforts. We make it to the building and Conlan opens the door. As soon as he did, I move to slip pass to save as much time as possible because honestly, I just want to get this over with. However apparently someone on the other side had the same idea as me. We end up bumping into each other but my stance is better and my body is stronger so I ended knocking her on her butt. "Oh sorry!" I call out to the red head who looked to be in pain. She had some freckles and sharp blue eyes. Looking up at me I ended up gulping since I now wonder if I just knocked down someone of royal decent. Before I could help her up Conlan came through the door and spoke. "Oh, Sorry for my friend. She's always in a rush. My name is Conlan. You are?" He finished while holding his hand out to help her up. I step back and out of the way as if watching them like they were playing out a scene in a play. I see the blush on her face as she holds her hand out to Conlan to grab his...and she's then pulled to her feet while their hands were still together. It took Conlan a moment to realize they were just standing their holding hands while looking at each other. He pulled his hand away in embarrassment and retreated it to the back of his head to hold it. She put her hands together in front of her and the two of them began apologizing meekly. As if I was que'd in, I stopped this weird display and spoke. "We're going to be late Conlan." And when I said that, whatever stalled the red-haired girls mind before had ceased because she said. "Conlan and Rosaline, right? I was just about to go out and look for you. You two are the last ones to show up for our class. I am Natalia Raye, I come from the northern village of Caotez. Nice to meet the both of you." She'd say while bowing and smiling at us. Apparently, we're late. "I told you were walking too slow Conlan, let's hurry up and go!" I called out to him. "You too Natalia, nice to meet you."
We get to class and outside of us there's only about 12 other people there....and honestly, it's a lot more than what I expected. The class has rows of desk that rise the further back they go. No one decided to sit in the front and only four people were in the back. Everyone else were in the middle seats. Before getting a chance to pick a seat I was getting pulled to the front desk in the center. There were only three rows and three columns with 4 people being able to sit at each long desk. We didn't need this whole room though. Even if the entire class of 15 sat in every seat side by side, we would only take up the first row and three people would be in the next column back. Enough of that though, there was a man standing in front of the class watching us from the moment we entered. Natalia also decided to sit next to us, next to me specifically. After eyeing us for a moment, the mentor cleared his throat and spoke. "Now that everyone is here, welcome to adventuring class. Just know, if any of you are late again, everyone is running around the building until I say stop....is that clear." Oh god not one of these types. Seeing my exhausted expression, the mentor decides to pick on me. "Is there a problem Chisuke?" Hiding my overall indignance, I say. "No sir!" Of course, that doesn't satisfy him. "I guess someone with the marksman mark wouldn't be worried about anything huh? Since we're speaking of marks, and that's what today's lesson plan is for those who didn't hear me mention it the first time, please come up and let us see a practical example." I just sat down...no if I show any more attitude, it will only get worse. I get up trying to seem a little chipper...which end up just counteracting my annoyance and turning what was going to be a lazy walk into normal one. Once I was next to the teacher, he leaned down to my ear and asked me. "Is your mark in a socially visible place." I shake my head.... it's right over by butt crack but only one person in this room knew that other than me and I planned to keep it that way. With that the mentor speaks to the class again. "Although we cannot see Chisuke's mark, we can very much see it in action. Please, take my chalk and throw it at the sleeping boy right there." I turned to see who he was referring to and in the very back of the class room there was a guy who had his pencil up and head down. The way he was breathing proved he was out of it. So, I do as the mentor asked and grabbed his chalk. I thought about hitting the boys head but that wouldn't really display my Mark like he wanted. I've trained enough to do something better. I take into account of wind flow, weight of projectile, distance, strength needed, angle, risk of someone trying to intercept it in midair because Conlan made an active effort to irritate me. Then I launch the chalk from my fingertips. As expected Conlan raises his hand in the angel he thinks I'm going to throw it and he misses of course.... then the chalk hit the kid's eraser on his pencil. His head snaps up and the chalk hits him right in the nose causing him to lower his head again. I hold in my laugh and the mentor looks a little in awe. "I see you've been practicing...but please form now on don't use it against your other students unless I give you permission to do so. I sort of did this time so you have a pass.... this time." He reaffirmed then pushed my back signaling me to take my seat again. Once I sat down the idiot next to me, yes Conlan, wanted a low five...damn right I hit it. The Mentor then begins his explanation about how marks give us special skills and it's up to us to harness them in the right ways. Using me as an example. Although I can primarily use it for ranged weapons or artillery of any kind, I could use it for first aid since I have steady aim, I also have a steady hand. Although he wanted to explain further, he did say now that we were all here, he needed to show us our dorms now that we were all in the room. He also wanted to be clear that his lesson would continue while we walked there though.
