(Samantha's POV)
"Who's going to entertain them?" I looked at the waitresses around, hinting Leneth what my answer was. She lightly tapped my shoulder.
Vampires were about to walk at our direction...
"This is not my husband's night, it's yours. They came here for your husband's success." leneth whisper. I smiled and scowled at the same time in return. But Leneth pushed me which caused to lose my balance.
I suddenly felt cold hands holding me to prevent from falling.
A pair of vampire's eyes met my gaze. Eyes which they use to play tricks on the minds of their victims.
Many humans fantasize about them. But given their arrogant nature. They'll never lower their heads for humans. They consider humans their subspecies some even compare us to monkeys, an affair with a human is a shame for their race. I'm one of those few girls who would never admire them.
To me? They are monsters. Hideos creatures not to treat special by the human! How come they are blind?!
He smiled at me. I quickly moved away from his grasp.
"I'm sorry." I told him. His scent caused my head to feel heavy.
"It's my honor to save you, Mrs. Curie." His eyes staring straight to mine. I wasn't surprised how he knew my name. Vampires have the ability to see through your past just by touch.
"Aiden, Alucard's only son. I'm here to meet your husband personally." he offered his hand.
Alucard? He's a pure blood and the son of the Vampire Lord. I pretended not to notice his hand.
"Nice to meet you, Aiden. We are glad that you could join us this evening." Leneth and the other girls left us to offer their seats. "Have a seat. My husband is still preparing for his presentation. He'll be here soon."
"I know. That's why I still have time to get to know you Mrs. Curie."
Samantha. I would've told him to call me Samantha, but it's better that he's addressing me with my husband's name. I respect my husband very much.
His aides surrounded us, all brimming with arrogance. I'm left with no choice but to talk to him while we wait for Albert.
"You know what Mrs. Curie, you're too gorgeous to be a human." I'm surprised that he's flirting with me and I didn't know what response to make. I'm a married woman, he's words won't flatter me.
"Thank you for your compliment." I responded firmly.
"You can be one of us." He's crossing the line. It was clear to me that he was insulting my husband. He smirked at me. A vampire showing interest to me? I will never fall for these monsters.
Albert, this isn't good.
He advanced closer to me and grabbed my hand. Goosebumps went all over my body when he kissed the back of my hand. Vampires can intimate you by their gentleness and sweetness. But don't step on their bait, it's all illusion! Trust me. They are really arrogant. I will never fall from their tricks.
They were one of the reasons why humans were almost wiped out on the face of the earth. Human extinction would also result to their annihilation. Human blood is the only thing they can consume. They needed us to coexist with them. The ancient vampires feared this possibility and decided to declare a treaty with the humans. The treaty indicates that the vampires will save us from werewolves, but in return, we will give them our blood. The government has agreed to the treaty and ordered each family to donate two liters of blood a month to the vampires.
And now, they treat us like poultry. Tss.
I took my hands off his grip. I won't hesitate to make a scene If he kept on disrespecting me and my husband.
"Mr. Aiden, if that's your name. Once again thank you for coming. Now If you'll excuse myself. I have more guests to attend to." I don't care if he's a special guest. He's actions were enough to prove me that he deserves no respect. How shameful of him to flirt with me even though he knows that I'm already a married woman.
I stood up and turned my back on him. But…
He quickly grabbed my hand once more which caused me to face him again. His pale lips grinned at me wickedly.
"I think you need help. Let my people do it for you."
I tried freeing my hands from him, but he didn't want to let go. This is bad.
His eyes widened, like a kid getting a new toy to play with. Albert, what's taking you so long? I need you here. How can I get myself away from this monster?
"My hands please." he now let go of me voluntarily. "Mr. Aiden, we respect your presence here. It is my responsibility to greet our guests, but we don't tolerate any unacceptable behaviors here. If you don't mind, enjoy the rest of the evening." I couldn't stand to spend more second with him anymore.
He smiled at me with a devilish gaze while I started to walk away.
I found myself to a group of businessmen, some of them were also vampires, scowling at me. Looks like I made myself some enemies when I insulted their leader. He completely deserved it though, he crossed the line and disrespected me and my husband over and over again!
I looked back at Aiden, his stare was still fixed to mine, and his grin was still on his face. He raised his glass filled with blood. He emptied it as if to say I'm next.
Many vampires known to be business tycoons were present for the event. The rights for the serum's ownership have taken their interests and were ready to compete with their fellow tycoons. Humans struggle to contend with the vampires in terms of business, they are usually being threatened whenever they disagree with the vampires' interests.
Many deaths of businessmen have been reported in the past. Werewolf attacks are one of the reasons being connected in the incidents. I've covered a handful of cases and found out that a frame up is highly possible with the vampires being responsible.
They also took advantage of the night and talked about their business, but the man of the hour was my husband. Everyone in the building was talking about him and his recent achievement.
"We are glad that we have your husband Samantha, we are in debt with him." It's always nice to hear someone complimenting my husband.
I saw Leneth went over to Aiden, they seemed to be having a good time. Tss. Is she out of her mind? Flirting with their kind is just looking for trouble, don't she dare let him take advantage of her.
He'll just going to kill you Leneth.
I sighed with relief when my husband finally arrived. His contributions in science for the society is one aspect which makes us better than the vampires, we're still treated with respect because of that. He was accompanied by his colleagues from work and greeted by people who were anxiously waited to meet him personally. One of them was Aiden, he looked at me once again and hurled a smile. I looked away quickly to avoid keeping an eye contact.
"Samantha." I heard Leneth and looked her way, she offered me a drink. "Don't worry Sam, it's not pineapple juice." It would be an insult to refuse her twice, so I took it.
"Thank you."
"Cheers, for your husband's success." raising her glass on my direction. I was hesitant. "Aren't you happy for your husband?" she added, noticing my reserved action.
"Of course, I am." Finally raising my glass as it clinked hers. "Cheers."
Leneth started drinking while I stared at my glass. She looked at me, and also started to drink. Leneth smiled at me.
"You haven't been good at entertaining the special guest Samantha." I started to feel dizzy, she took the glass from me before I drop it. Everything went spiraling but I tried my best to stay on my feet. She must've put something on my drink.
"Leneth... What did you do?"
"Shhh...Don't worry. I'm just fixing the trouble you have made." she guided me on the side. I resisted but my body was starting to weaken. I tried to look for my husband, but my vision was starting to blur and darken.
"Let go of me Leneth!" I couldn't shout loud enough. My head started to feel heavy and couldn't feel my legs anymore, someone caught me before completely falling to the ground. I was hoping it was my husband, but I was instantly filled with disappointment and disgust when I smelled Aiden's scent.
I struggled using all the strength left in my body, but it was too late. We were surrounded by his aids trying to block us from my husband's direction.
"I always get what I want." he whispered into my ear sending shivers into my spine.
