The building was about collapse and Sofia, Tama and Aliya were running out of the building, before the building crashed. The portal was still left open before they escaped.
The sun was beginning to set the west. It could have been considered a beautiful sight but with the army coming in the distance.
This meant war.
And just as they got out into the open, and the building gave way, Kill spotted Sofia among the three.
While stumbling, Kill's grip loosened and Desmond feel down and ran for cover.
But at the sight of Sofia, Kill found its balance.
Desmond could not see Sofia because Kill was obstructing the view at which Sofia, Tama and Desdemona stood.
So his mind was not on Kill, neither did he remember about Sofia. He had not known that she ran to the building that had just crumbled down.
So, his main focus now was closing the portal.
