Luke had bought Mia there for the first time shortly after his suspension. Now, it'd become a regular habit that he couldn't see changing.
Ever.
Most nights they were together and Luke managed to sneak her in before school. Her mom woke up a little after seven and he usually dropped her off before that. It was hard staying away from her and they generally winded up doing their homework and talking just like that before falling asleep.
He knew it was getting weirder at the Perry house. When he'd met Mia, she'd been a happy, carefree, and loved child. He sensed that as soon as he saw her that she was normal. Not like him but different than the other kids somehow.
He couldn't exactly figure out what, though.
Or how.
It just was.
