After Cat had escaped Cam's compound she'd been hospitalized for over a month as she'd recovered from her injuries. The drugs Cam had used to control her left her system and made Cat realize that her escape had indeed been so well-timed and easy. It had taken her a long time to come to terms with the fact that her life, her mind, and even her body had changed so much in the short time she'd spent in captivity.
She should have guessed when she'd killed those guards who'd tortured and taunted her day and night and fled so quickly. It had been almost like it was all staged. She'd run into no one on the way from her room to the gates of the compound. Even though her progress had been slow since she was severely dehydrated, malnourished, and felt weak after just having lost her ba- She'd only managed to lose consciousness when she'd run into Max and his agents. From there fighting her own brain and body had been an uphill battle.
