Alex's soft kisses woke up Cat from the trance she'd fallen into.
"Wh-What? What did you just say?" She trembled like a leaf and pushed him away with her hands. Alex who'd been holding her tightly hadn't expected the sudden animation and stumbled around some shattered glass pieces. She saw a piece of wood pierce his big toe and felt numb. Absolutely numb.
"Wh-where di-did y...you h-hear that name?" She shivered.
"Tell me, Catriona," Alex's voice was steel.
"I-"
"Remember I'll know you're lying or covering up and I deserve this much at least, don't you think?" Alex's voice was strong and cut through her shaky defenses.
She looked at the ground as she answered, unable to face him, "He is- was your son."
