Cat came back to reality as the coffee maker beeped. Sighing wearily she looked up to find Nathan standing next to her.
"Hi, you look like you could use a double of whatever you got brewing in there."
"That bad, huh? Does it show?" She smiled morosely.
"Only to those, who know to look for the signs. C'mon, let's sit and talk over whatever is bothering you-" Seeing the closed-off look she gave him, Nate continued, "... Or not." He winked at her and nudged her elbow playfully, "I'm sure we can do something to put a smile back on that gorgeous face."
Cat was sure he couldn't. But since it was the best offer she'd gotten these past few days, she decided what the hell? What's the worst that could happen?
The café was adorned with well-used and strategically placed wicker furniture. They took their seats at a table with deep-cushion chairs facing opposite each other near the entrance.
"You've been working so hard. How was the trip to Milan?"
