Miko and Reign took in the cool night air while gazing up at the full moon hanging in the sky above, their thoughts finally settling. After some time Miko started to shiver from the cold breeze. Seeing this Reign crossed the distance between them, blocking the breeze from hitting her.
Miko looks up at Reign, his eyes still fixed on the moon above. Steeling her nerves and accepting her fate she slowly leans into him to escape the cold air. She is bound to him, and regardless of what happens her life is forfeit. No longer fearing what her future holds she accepts his presence.
"What happened to your body..?" She says while gazing up at him.
"What do you mean?" Not understanding her question, Reign turns his attention to Miko.
Looking down at her, their eyes lock, crystal blue eyes staring back at him. Lost in time again, unable to comprehend the depth of her gaze.
His heart began beating powerfully.
"The scars, you have so many...what happened?" Miko asked again feeling his imposing eyes looming over her.
"Oh, Right," He lightly shrugs " Some of my training sessions can be challenging" He eluded
"Do you train a lot?"
Reign sighs "hhaa, Everyday."
"You don't seem happy about that" Miko states, seeing the displeasure in his face.
"Would you be happy doing nothing but studying and training?" He fired back at her.
"Hmm...I don't know, I've never done anything that dangerous. I used to help my mom gather vegetables and herbs from the forest while my dad would go hunting. I asked him many times to take me with him and teach me but he always said no." Miko leaned in closer to Reign to feel more of his warmth. The air around him was warm, almost as if his body was a furnace.
"Why would he refuse to take you hunting?"
"I'm not really sure why, he said it was something a girl shouldn't do but I always felt like it was an excuse for him to not bring me along. He kept saying that my place was by mom's side helping her with the house chores" She pouted at the memories of her father refusing to take her hunting with him.
"Huh, I assumed it would be in your best interest to get stronger. Why would he prevent his children from striving for power?" Reign thought out loud. "My father has always prioritized strength, everything he's done was in the name of gaining more power." He continued.
"I wish I was stronger" Miko said 'If only I was stronger, maybe I wouldn't be a captive now'
"If you desire strength you can join me when I go to my lessons, father did say you are to remain by my side at all times after all. I don't see why you couldn't be trained along with me" Reign said.
"...I'll come, but what's the point? Once you're done with me I'll just be killed." Feeling defeated with no purpose Miko hung her head, now looking down at Reigns feet. Her head almost touching his chest.
Reign wanted to place his hand on her head and comfort her, but he refrained "Perhaps that my happen, but you never know, with enough power you might be able to one day free yourself from your bonds. I can help you with the curse placed on your soul, once its removed you'll need strength to retain your freedom." His gaze turning soft.
She lifts her head back up, peering into his blood red eyes. Her cheeks turning slightly rosy as the faint light of hope enters her heart. Her old life is gone, but maybe she can regain her freedom and continue exploring the world.
She doesn't say anything in response to his offer, not wanting to be given false hope. Instead she closes the distance between them, burying her face into his chest.
"Its cold" Miko says with her face buried in Reigns chest.
"...Oh, lets go back insi-" Reign tried to say before Miko cuts him off and says
"No! I like it out here, It's comfortable" Her face still in his chest. Truth be told she was feeling conflicted, though Reign was the source of her suffering and the reason she lost her family, he was also the only one since her capture who seemed to see her as a person instead of an object. She couldn't help but hate him deep down for everything she has lost, but he was also her only hope in regaining her freedom.
She was also having a hard time resisting his handsome figure, when she first saw him she felt dread and impending doom. Now when she looked at his face her emotions were a complex mix of fear and desire. He was quite handsome, the most handsome boy she has ever seen. Her hormones were running a muck in her mind, and now she was alone with an extremely handsome boy in his room. She wasn't ready to go back inside, she needed the cold night air to help settle her thoughts.
Without thinking Reign wrapped his arms around her, feeling her soft figure in his arms, pressing her against him.
'mmhhh so warm' Miko thought, letting go of her hesitation and moving her body instinctively. She wraps her arms around his torso feeling more of his warmth. Her mind blanking out.
They held each other in an awkward embrace. Neither of them having ever held another person in an intimate embrace.
Reign was surprised by how they ended up this way, before he could think his body moved instinctively. His chest was still heavy from the guilt he felt, however new feelings were rushing into him the moment he wrapped his arms around Miko. Feelings he could not understand, but he held her regardless.
Miko was also surprised by the sudden embrace, she has never held another boy before. Yes, she hugged her kid brothers and father, but it was nothing like holding Reign. It made her heart beat faster and warmed her body to the core with emotions she has never felt before. She still blamed Reign and his Father for what has happened to her family and village so embracing him now left her shocked. However she didn't want to let go, his large and powerful arms wrapping around her felt like the last safe haven she had left, and it brought her a strange sense of comfort.
Even if it was a false sense of comfort, by the man who took away her life and family she didn't shy away from his embrace. If she was to die anyway she wanted to experience what it felt like at least once being intimately embrace by Reign. Desire blossoming in her heart unknowingly.
Although Reign has never held another person he too didn't shy away from the embrace. He still felt guilty about his absolute control over Miko's life and what his family did to her village, but deep down whenever his eyes met Miko now, he felt the need to protect her from further suffering. He vowed to himself that he would help her gain the strength she needed to escape and live free. Determination burning in his heart unknowingly.
They held each other for awhile without speaking.
"Should we head back in now? It will only get colder out here." Reign said finally breaking the silence.
"...okay.." Miko replied hesitantly with her face still buried in his chest.
They broke away from the embrace and made their way back inside. Reign touched the glass on his way in sealing the door, as they moved back onto the couch to feel the warmth of the fireplace.
Miko sat right next to Reign this time, feeling emboldened from their earlier embrace. She looks up at him and asks "Will you really help me get stronger?"
"If you follow me, I can. It won't be easy." He says looking down at her, noticing her cheeks flushed red which sent an electrifying alien feeling down his spine.
"Can you break the curse placed on my soul?"
"Perhaps, I would have to know what kind of curse it is first. Even if I can't do it now I'm sure in time I can figure out the means to dispel it. Hopefully by then you will be strong enough to escape my father's grasp." Reign stated.
"mmhhn" Miko accepted his answers, hope growing stronger in her heart. She became determined to train alongside Reign to grow stronger.
In the meantime she wanted to feel his embrace once again so she leaned into Reign, touching her head to his shoulder.
....
....
When he didn't move to embrace her she felt a little upset, she looked up and glared at his face.
Feeling her intense crystal blue eyes piercing holes right through him, a chill ran down his back forcing him to sit up straight "...What."
"hmmph" she snorted and pushed him over, she went ahead and made herself comfortable on top of him, laying on his chest. She then grabbed his arms and placed them over herself. She finally stopped glaring at him and turned her attention back onto the fireplace with a satisfied grin on her face.
Stunned by her sudden actions Reign was unable to respond and simply allowed her to make herself comfortable. Now with Miko laying on top of his chest and his arms wrapped around her he finally regained his senses.
'What the heck was that?! Where did this sudden courage come from?! hhhaaa whatever, I guess it's good she is starting to feel comfortable' He sighed internally, accepting Miko's sudden embrace.
