It had been a year since he last saw her parents and he knew neither of them wanted to see him. But if they had handed him the invitation then he wasn't going to waste it.
Camilla came out in a yellow short half dress, with her hair let down. Her face was brimming with a smile.
He found himself smiling too.
"Why are you smiling like that?" he asked as they left the house.
She held his arm, " Because your the first man my mother has officially called home "
"And that is good news?" he asked. The last time he did visit her parents he remembered it didn't end well.
"Yes! it is. Mom never ask to see any man near me apart from Ray so you the first "
He nodded as he silently hoped things would work out this time.
Her parent's mansion still looked the same, he watched as Camilla held his hand again leading them into the home.
He hesitated but knew they had a reason to ask Camilla to bring him too.
Her mother and father looked happy to see her but their faces changed when his face came into view. He greeted them and took a seat to be next to Camilla.
Her father's stares made him feel even more uncomfortable, he seemed to be irritated by the fact that Chris was so close to Camilla. Quietly Chris moved away from Camilla creating enough space between them.
A smile appeared on her father's face after that. Then his stares turned to his face.
Camilla turned to her father, " Dad stop that, you might put holes in his head with those stares " she pulled Chris closer to him.
"I wasn't doing anything, anyway your mom wants you both to join us for lunch then we can head thereafter, " her father said.
"This is weird.., why does it seem that you guys know each other " she laughed.
Her mother slapped her lap, " What are you saying, everyone in our type of business and era knows Chris Huntsman "
Camilla sighed, " your right mother everybody knows who he is. Anyway his here cause you said you wanted to see him," she said.
Her mother nodded.
"When I found out my daughter is dating the famous businessman your father and I decided to use the chance and get to see him face to face " she lied.
Giving her husband the signal, he turned to Chris again, "Can we talk about business in my study?" he asked Chris.
Chris knew what he meant and followed him to the study.
Camille and her mother went to the kitchen to start making lunch.
The moment he closed the door behind him Camilla's father frowned letting out, " You promised to never set foot either in our house or her or even near her. But you being selfish finally broke your word "
Chris nodded, "Yes I know I did and am so sorry but when I saw her again " he fell silent remembering the night he saw her face to face a d smiled.
Turning back to her father, Chris added, " I apologised again but I really can't go away from her "
The look he received from her father was enough to make any coward of a man cry but Chris wasn't just any man, but someone who once almost became his son in law.
