After scurrying all over for a few minutes they managed to get the class ready in time. "Phew… if you didn't warn us we would've still been deluded thinking that we had a lot of time on our hands when truly we didn't, he's most probably going to be here soon" Jena said smiling as she taking a seat beside Sapphire.
I had informed them of the time and the whole incident was over, Frank left for his class that was going to be starting soon. Bayo headed in to gist with his new classmates and get details on the school and how everything worked leaving sapphire all alone.
Sapphire left that spot and decided to seat in the front row close to the door so it would be easy to leave when class was over, it was a habit she had grown accustomed too but little did she know this would cause her trouble ever.
"Hey, pretty face that's my seat. I called dibs on it," Jade said. When I heard those words I snapped out of my daze and turned to look at the person speaking.
"Oh I'm sorry, I didn't know dibs still worked in the university," I said snappily irritated by what he was saying.
"Who would've thought Pretty face would be able to stand her ground. Oh well…I was just messing with you so don't get all edgy. Secondly, dibs is a universal rule, even codes abide by the rules of dibs" Jade replied
"Would you mind explaining what you mean by "even codes abide by the rules of dibs" because I'm trying to wrap my head around that statement yet it still doesn't make sense" I replied expecting him to say something very stupid but it turned out I shouldn't have downgraded Jade and his intellect
"Well look at it this way… I'm pretty sure you're aware that a program is simply a series of codes and you can't just place codes randomly, there's an arrangement to these things. So won't you say they called dibs on those particular and although other codes can occupy that spot they shouldn't and won't because they obey the law of dibs" Jade said smiling
The expression on my face at that moment was priceless, I was very much shocked at how he looked at the concept in such a basic yet oddly relatable way.
The scenario and statement he made said so much about him, but the one that struck me was the fact that he was able and willing to think outside the box not bound by the original ideas and thoughts on the concept at hand. To get to this level it means you need to be extremely knowledgeable on the topic at hand.
"It's more fun to look at it this way, you have to learn to dream and go against the norm or you'd live a very boring and uneventful life," Jade said calmly staring at me.
I could see the level of determination he had in his eyes but it soon disappeared as quickly as it came when he smiled and turned towards the door as Mr. Kenneth walked in.
"Sorry to keep you guys waiting, know this is your first lecture with me but I'm very sure my reputation precedes me," Mr. Kenneth said walking briskly to the podium in front of the class dropping his laptop bag on the table placed conveniently beside it.
Mr. Kenneth was a very chubby man, he was about 5'5, and generally, he had average looks. He had a very serious expression on his face as he brought out a flash drive, turned on the projector, and plugged the flash drive into the laptop connected it to the projector then got everything ready.
Soon enough he had set everything up and began his lecture after a quick introduction and briefing. He taught very well if I were to comment on his teaching I'd say it was pretty smooth.
He gave precise information, explained thoroughly, and proceeded to the next point after he was sure he had explained enough.
I believe the term to describe how I felt at this point was euphoria. 'This is where I belong, this is what I've been waiting for my whole life' sapphire thought
"Good day students hope you enjoyed that lecture," Mr. Kenneth said as he left the class
He didn't give any assignments, no projects no tasks nothing he simply finished teaching and left the class. I was bewildered, I thought the teachers here would be so uptight and shove you with so much work you'll barely have anything to do except work.
"Sweetheart you look very confused. You were expecting a butt load of right? Well good news love this school runs very differently. Sure it's a major and prestigious school and you'll do work, but the work you do is work you give yourself, crazy right?" Jade said laughing
"What do you mean by that?" I asked even more confused
"You see here at Parkwood, creativity, and talent is simply refined to a crisp and then given to the world. You are given the opportunity to be yourself and what the school does is make you the best version of yourself you can be. It's why this school has excelled so much. This is just about the best strategy ever" Jade said smiling
If I was excited about this school before then right now I was beyond excited. After hearing what Jade said I realized how dumb my plan was, I could be myself here and meet people that I could work with or could enrich my life so much here.
This was amazing news, but I didn't want to jump right into it because that would be simply disastrous. I decided to experiment and observe the whole day.
"Wow, that really does sound like a pretty amazing plan. Thanks for today I guess, I badly misjudged you" I said smiling stretching out my hands to shake him
"Well Jade can get very competitive and cocky a lot, but he's a pretty nice guy. I'm Kyle by the way although you'll meet Jade more Often I'm also a ho… well guess Jade is coming back now" Jade said smiling, well at least his body did
After hearing what jade said I froze. I was shocked, 1. Because that was definitely not the voice and countenance of the person I'd met when I came, 2. A person who I sat with throughout the class literally just became another person. I simply sat there frozen my hands stretched out for a handshake.
Suddenly I felt someone shake my hands and I was Jolted back to reality
"I'm a pretty good actor aren't I, had you frozen in your seats," Jade said laughing as he shook my hand then let go
"I best be on my way now I got other lectures" He continued, but this time it was the same voice I heard when I met him. Was he really that good an actor I asked myself?
I wasn't that much of a spiritual person but the first thought that came to my mind after he left and I'd managed to get myself was 'This guy is possessed by some sort of spirit'.
I thought about this the whole day and he was right about the creativity thing. I got back to my dorm after having one of the best days of my life but that encounter with him was still stuck in my head.
I decided to look it up maybe I'd find what it was because I simply didn't want to assume he was possessed. "Spirit no dey reach yankee now plus I never hear of spirit wey tush like that abi naso yankee spirits be. I must find out what this is because from his reaction he definitely didn't want to talk about it".
And so I began scurrying through the internet after I had freshened up and changed into much cozier clothes until I stumbled upon an article that read: "DID, how to cope with switches between alters in public".
Who would've thought that a single search query would lead to one of the craziest stories I had ever heard and actually lived
Life is quite thrilling, I'd advise anyone to live it to the fullest, find love, do whatever makes you happy and avoid regrets because they hold you down and stop you from living your best. I don't regret living my life the way I did frankly speaking I'd do it again, but this time I know I'll save us.
