"If only she knew she wouldn't have gone out with him" that's what a lot of people, some choose to victimize but all their thoughts one way or the other would be as cynical as can be. But I don't mind, the thought of love was too sweet and still is for me to have wished or wished otherwise, even when it got out of hand.
Every day in this dark abyss I have sunk into, I reminisce the good times, the way he treated me like a queen, his gentle strokes as he teased my body, the way he ran his fingers through my hair, his kiss that would always leave me craving more. But these are all dreams now, fleeting desires I no longer have the ability to get.
Sometimes I wonder where it all went wrong, why it even went wrong, but all I get in return is flashbacks and horrible memories I wish I forgot. All I know is he changed and it wasn't good for either of us, it was horrible, he turned fantasy into a nightmare in just one day, I never got the opportunity to figure out what happened but I hope it was worthwhile.
I still love him and always will even if this abyss is my current reality I will still love him, it was just love gone wrong.
This story began a year ago, funnily it started horribly. I was a freshman at Parkwood College and it was my first day, I had gotten to college the day before with high hopes and dreams of being a Software engineer for one of the F.A.N.G companies, I was so motivated I cut ties with everyone at high school so I could focus. I decided no friends, no love, just me, my laptop, and codes, it was a blissful ideology, the perfect one in fact, but let's see how that worked out.
I woke up very early that morning went to the bathroom to freshen up then got dressed, I decided not to go all fashion model and dress simple, but that was quite hard to do, not to brag but I was eye candy for guys, I was well developed with a supple ass, perky breasts, a well-defined body, I had long dark hair, light blue eyes and I was light-skinned.
So pulling off a simple and not outgoing look was going to be hard but I still gave it my best, I decided to wear a baggy hoody, jeggings, and a white boot with fur at the end. After I had gotten dressed I looked in the mirror and gave myself a pep talk then walked out with my bag that was already packed the night before.
I got to school quite early, the apartment I rented wasn't so far from the school.
I refused to stay in the dorms because I felt I'd be distracted so I rented an apartment in a quiet neighborhood fortunately not too far from school, it was only a few blocks away, and I could get to school in 30 minutes if I wanted to walk, but I preferred not to today so I ordered an Uber and got to school in about 10 minutes give or take.
When I got to the gates I was in awe, Parkwood College was one of the most prestigious schools in the world and I coded my way in... at least that's how I like to see it. I got a scholarship for one of my programs I sent in, it was a pet project I had been working on since I was 13 and 4 years later it gets me into one of the prestigious schools in the world.
I was so proud of myself the day I got the letter, I was beyond overjoyed. It was also the same day I decided on the "Uni plan". But when I got there that day I was even happier, I paid the Uber driver and started walking to the security office staring around like a lost kid in a huge city.
Not paying attention to where I was going I bumped into someone, he was a tall well-built dark-skinned guy, his hair was dreaded, he was also wearing a sleeveless long shirt with a hood, a pair of dark jeans and a Nike mag, but before I got all these details the first thing I saw was the shoe.
"This nigga is wearing a freaking Nike Mag on the first day of school, he's either well off or crazy," I thought for a second before I apologized. "I'm sorry, I didn't see you there I was a bit lost," I said, and that was where I got all the details and realized how much of a hunk he was.
"Why apologize, you can even hit me again I won't mind. Babe wey sempe like this bash me dey tell me sorry... omo yankee sweet," He said laughing. When I heard what he said I immediately knew he was Nigerian, I was just relieved he wasn't so stuck up.
"So what's your name?" He said staring at me.
"My name is sapphire, what's yours?" I replied, "My name's Bayo, it was nice bumping into you, sadly I'll have to hit on you later, I've got to go now, I'm sure you're Nigerian," He said laughing as he left.
I was just left there stunned, but I wrote this encounter off thinking this was the end of our meet because of the so-called Uni plan and me not being much a social person. I continued heading to the security post which was just in front of me but this time I was looking where I was going.
It took a while with a lot of processing and confirmation but I finally got my student id number and card then I headed for the board office. I finally left the board office after a briefing with my advisor and some other higher-ups I was finally ready for school and my first class was Software development 101, since I got to school pretty early I could attend the class just in time.
The school didn't do a general briefing for all the students instead they had a meeting with the students personally, so they get a really good understanding of the school.
"That was one hell of a briefing, I didn't even notice how much time it took... This school is pretty cool though, and all I need to do now is keep a low profile," I said soliloquizing as I headed to my class.
A few minutes later I arrived in front of this huge building, it took her a while to digest but when the realization hit me that this monstrous building was where my class was and I remembered the school I was in it got better. The second thing I realized was how minuscule I was compared to this building and I had no idea where my class was or even how to get there.
"Well isn't this just amazing," I said before I was interrupted by someone, "Yes it is, it's amazing. I stared at it for like 2 minutes just imagining multiple case scenarios where someone walks out of here happy or sad" The person said calmly as though he was reminiscing an old memory.
When I turned to see who it was I just laughed at how naïve I was, because I wanted to stay a ghost didn't mean I wouldn't meet him if we were in the same block or class. She'd recognize that Nike Mag anywhere. Sapphire had this weird habit of looking at your shoes before your face or anything else but it was so quick it wasn't noticeable.
"so it's you again, I never thought I'd see you so soon or even see you at all but here you are," Sapphire said smiling
"I know right...Who would've thought, so you see this is a sign I was supposed to ask you out or better still we become friends, my girlfriend wouldn't want me to date someone else, she's so stingy," Bayo said laughing
"Guy you're just a case, why would she want to share? Well... I knew this plan wasn't going to be fully implemented so sure you can be my friend, you've just taken up friend slot number one, so feel proud of yourself it's really a huge achievement," Sapphire said jokingly
"Wow! What an honor, I'm flattered even though I don't know what this so-called plan is," Bayo replied her laughing as he took a bow.
"So now that the intros are over, how do we get to class, this place is huge" Sapphire asked Bayo hoping he would know.
"Babe I just land here today how I won take know that one. I just got all my stuff quickly so I took a tour, I never really entered the buildings. Plus you said we, what do you think I'm studying?" Bayo said
"Well...I don't know what you're studying but I do know what I am and by the looks of it, I'm going to be late, let's just go inside and ask around,"
"Good idea, my first class is software dev 101, what's yours?" Bayo said
"You see and you were complaining when I said we have the same class now," Sapphire said laughing.
"Are you guys going to go in or do you need a push, you're kind of in the way. The door might be huge doesn't mean you should mope around" Said someone standing behind Sapphire and Bayo.
