Next day morning breakfast
The kitchen was filled with delicious food. A big breakfast for the Dawn residents. Mark had a fresh pot of coffee made with a big cup of coffee. Mom was wearing her favorite apron. The television was on and surprisingly there wasn't anything gang related happening in the city.
It's almost like the city was quite. "A little too quiet" is what Alex thought. The newest member of the family Alice was the last person to come down to breakfast. Mom and Mark were all giggly in each other faces to even notice Alice. She came to breakfast with sloppy hair. Her shirt was hanging off her shoulder. She looked barely awake. To make matters worse she had drool on her face.
I couldn't take it anymore, I grab a towel and began to wipe her face. "Close your eyes" I said. Surprised she actually did it without a rebuttal. She looked up at me and smiled. "Thanks big bro"
My eyes were wide for a second. I wasn't expecting that. I think I like the ring of it. "Big bro…" I muttered under my breath.
"I'm glad to see you guys getting along." Mom said.
Alex you wouldn't mind taking your sister to school today, right?" Mark had chimed in. I don't feel like I have a choice. That statement sounds like a guilt trip, because if I say no Mom's gonna be mad. Plus I'll look like a ass for not taking her to school for no reason.
I took a deep breath and signed. "Fine" I said I'll take her to school. "So.... can I ride my motorcycle?" Mom looked at me and her face said everything. "Fine we'll walk." I walk over to the hallway and grab my backpack and yell out to Alice to come on.
20 minutes later
It was hard to find a topic to chat about with her. So we just stayed quiet most of the time. Well I can't blame her though. We did get off at a rocky start. I do think she's trying to start a conversation. She seems to be stopping herself. I guess I do kinda look Intimidating. I think I should be the one to say something to ease the Tension. "So Alice....do you like your school?" God that was the lamest thing I ever said. She didn't seem to mind though. She thought about it. " it's fine, I mean the classes are pretty easy. Surprisingly the honor classes are basic and simple. Pretty much more homework."
I wasn't expecting her to give me her full opinion. Not that I mind. I'm glad her nervousness was gone. "Umm Alex what happened to your eyes?" That's a question I'm all to familiar with. "Ya see I was born like this Alice. Having two different eye colors. Doctors said it's not that uncommon. It's usually found in animals like cats and dogs." She got really quiet and stopped walking. She started mumbling something "Heterochromia iridium." It was feint but I could make it out.
"You look scary with your red-ish eye. But I'm not scared." Alice had a determined look in her eyes. Out of reflex I patted her on the head. Let's keep moving, I don't want you to be late for school I said.
Saint Maria Academy
Me and Alice approach the front door. I was shocked to see a beautiful school. Everyone had on a good atmospheric vibe. Not a single asshole in sight. Can this day get any better. I must started to stand out because a teacher started to walk over towards us. Alice turned to me and whispered "That's sister Albi, she pretty strict" the woman was dressed in a nun outfit. She was incredibly tall for a woman. I'm pretty sure she had pects.
"Young man why are you harassing my student? This school doesn't tolerate gangsters." She Said. I don't know who's supposed to be intimidating me or her. I'm pretty sure she beat me.
"Well....ahem... nice to meet you sister. I'm Alice's older brother Alex." She looked me over once and shook her head. "I don't see the resemblance, you don't look anything alike. Sorry to say sweetheart but you are black and she is white."
Alice didn't seem to like what she heard. She was about to lash out in my defense, I stopped her before she got herself into trouble. " I understand that Alice 's father has remarried, and that person he married was my mother." She took another glance at the both of us and nodded. "my apologies I Said too much." I accepted her apology and watched her and Alice walk into the school.
As I was turning to leave I heard my name being called. " I have after school activities today so I'll be at school till 5." It seems Alice used a window to convey her message. I wave my hand letting her know I heard her.
Saint Samuel Academy
As I approach the front door. A wave of unease hit me. Not that long ago I was fighting for my life. I doubt Terumi would attempt something at the school. I'm pretty sure his shoulder is still in bad shape. I started to take deep breaths and began to walk into the school right to class. Terumi's in my first period class. I'm hoping he'll take a chill pill today.
Before I could swing around the corner I felt someone grab me from behind. I unconsciously flipped the person in a swift motion. "Ow!" Looking at the person who I just tossed with black hair. "Alex whyyy did you toss me?" Hermione groaned. I thought she was some kinda child assassin.
"Why'd I tossed you, you came from my backside Hermione." I helped her up and she started to dust herself off. In front of us were Hinata and co. The student council has to be here early. That must suck. They must have noticed us and started walking towards us. Waving hands and smiling. I could get used to this everyday. I know that there's someone missing though.
Hinata had greeted us with a smile and good morning. Same thing with the rest of the group. "Alex you seem better than yesterday." I nodded my head and told them what happened. How Roy had helped me out. "I didn't know you and Roy was that acquainted" Said Hinata. I couldn't blame her though, me and Roy had only talked for a short time.
For now he seems to the only guy friend I have. Plus he seems trustworthy. "It's not like he's gonna betray me like Lancelot did to King Arthur." I unconsciously said that out loud. "Well well I guess I have expectations to uphold Alex." We all turn around to see Roy and Naomi. Naomi made her way over towards me wrapping her arms around my neck. "Sadly I have no interest in lady Guinevere. My interest lies else where." We exchange glances and nods and he walked away.
Naomi was nuzzling me. We exchange kisses as we shifted into holding hands.
"So...when did you guys get so close." Said Rena. I had explained that Naomi was by my side and throughout my injuries and helped me home. Having dinner together with my family. I glanced over at Hermione who was being awfully quiet. She must have noticed I was looking at her and smiled and looked away.
"Breakfast club your blocking the door get the hell out the way!" Their no mistaking that voice. It can only come from one person....Terumi. I turned around to face him and the others stepped aside from the door. I gave him a glance over. His shoulder didn't seem to be injured. He must have done the same thing as me. "You and your girlfriend gonna get what's coming to ya." Said Terumi. His glare said all to well he meant what he said. "You touch her I'll destroy more than your shoulder gecko!" I stare Terumi down, there's no way I'm letting this go.
"The hell happened to your eyes?" Said Terumi.
I..well..to be honest that question caught me off guard. I wasn't exactly expecting the guy who broke some of my ribs to be concerned about me. "I was born like this." I said. He just nodded and said "Heterochromia iridium it's found in some humans but mostly dogs and cats."
So weird he's smart but such a ass. I think it's a cover for something. "Hey Terumi if you got time after school can you help me with my math homework again?" I Said. He looked at me annoyed. "Sure" we glance at each other one more time and he started to walk into the classroom.
That's until Hermione grabbed his hand. She held his hand towards her chest. "Please Terumi, can we just go back to the way things used to be. Your not this type of person who does things like this.
(Her voice became soft and concerned)
You love studying and reading. The fact that your helping Alex is proof enough that you wanna go back." Terumi looked at her and brought up his other hand. I adjusted myself ready for anything. "How can you say that after everything I've done to you?" She pulled him closer "I know you had no choice in the matter. I can't hold a grudge against you for something my father did. I know he'll kill your sister if you don't follow his orders."
Terumi rubbed his hand through her hair as a sigh of affection. As he was about to walk into class someone from around the corner had rushed into Hermione. They didn't get far, Terumi had seemed to stop whatever force that had seemed to come towards them. "Leave assassin!! she just had something in her hair." The person dressed in complete black had disappeared
Terumi walked into class like nothing had happened. The look on his face was painful and sad. Hinata was the first person next to Hermione. Everyone had witnessed a assassin in our school. With a failed attempt. I told everyone before leaving to try to stay with a group. I grabbed Naomi's hand and did a slight squeeze. "Be safe" I Said as she walked away.
Everything was going smooth today too. Now assassins and homework. I take my seat behind Terumi. The teacher came in and announced homecoming next week.
Wow I wonder if I can actually enjoy this. Terumi turns around to face me. "So you and the Valkyrie huh? You guys are a couple?" I look him in the eyes and said "you and Hermione were a couple huh?" We both exchange glances. At the same time "yeah" the bell rung and thus class has started.
