Silence. Maybe an awkward silence? Is that what they call this? She still isn't looking my way, and somehow, I can't bring myself to talk some more.
Uhhhhh, what now?
Suddenly, I hear her sigh.
"Thanks for calming me down earlier. I really was on the verge of…well, whatever I was on the verge of, you helped me snap out of it. Thanks," she says.
I look her way.
"Hey, no problem. We all go through missions we're a bit too personally involved in. I understand how frustrating it can get when the stake hits home too closely," I reply.
She scoffs, turning to me with a mischievous smirk on her face.
Tug-dug, tug-dug, tug-dug, I hear my heart beat.
