Chapter 33 - A History of Survival

The five of them run and run amid the palace's flaming hallways. They are all tired and out of breath, the smoke is getting to their lungs, it is difficult to see, and the heat is sweltering up. But they run nonetheless. Hope, perhaps even desperation, is the only thing keeping them going. They must get out of here, they must survive, all five of them think.

But tales of miracles and surprise happy endings are naught in real life, and war is cruel to all. Despite how hardly one clings to hope, the pits of despair will always try to catch up.

In the five survivor's case, the pits of despair come in the form of a heavily guarded hallway. 

Just as they make their turn, they come across a hallway guarded by seven Galdonans. 

The enemies immediately turn their head at the noise of scuffling and running. They spot the five survivors, and they come to action not a second later, raising their swords and moving forward. 

"Retreat!" one of the guards say.
