Chapter 42 - HIDDEN MOTIVES (2)

Jiu Bao inhaled as she stayed still while the heavenly king walked around her. Something was certainly odd with him. He was the legendary heavenly king of the heavenly realm. Many girls would die for the opportunity to become his concubine but she, she felt very uncomfortable around him. Her sister had would finally be able to learn from the crown prince. If everything went well, her sister's cultivation would improve.

"You are the great heavenly king. You possess many great treasures and you are powerful. I am sure that there is nothing I can give you to thank you for this big favor. Don't worry. The mortal realm is forever indebted to you." Jiu Bao said facing him.

She knew exactly what he wanted. It was obvious on his face. But, although her father had asked her to form a bond in the heavenly realm, being the nth concubine of the heavenly king wasn't part of her plan at all.

"Really? Be careful of the promises you make. I might just ask you to pay me back" The heavenly king said looking serious.

"I dare not go back on my promise to you, Your Majesty." Jiu Bao said.

"Tell me, do you have a suitor? Anyone that is interested in you?" The heavenly king asked making Jiu Bao raise her head.

It was all in his eyes. The lust. Jiu Bao turned her gaze away thinking of an excuse. Should she tell him about Tingzhe? Tingzhe had no intention of getting back with her but that didn't mean she isn't love him. What they say is true. Childhood love can never be forgotten.

Meanwhile the heavenly king gazed at Jiu Bao intensely. She was indeed beautiful. Her pale skin and shiny eyes shined through like the blazing sun. He knew she what she was thinking. He was very much interested in her therefore he had to make her become dependent on him.

"Relax. I understand. It is understandable that you, a young cultivator should have a suitor. Don't worry. I wouldn't tell anything to your father" The heavenly king said.

"I didn't mean it that way." Jiu Bao said quietly as the heavenly king laughed.

"I am sorry. Am I interrupting something?" The heavenly king heard someone ask.

Jiu Bao stood shocked as Jiayi walked inside wearing a very sexy and exposed dress. She was obvious very beautiful and she knew it.

"Greetings heavenly king" Jiayi said bowing down.

The heavenly king stood, his eyes holding no emotions as he looked at Jiayi. She was indeed one of the most beautiful women of the three realms. Her hair was tied up with the most expensive ornaments placed on it. Her red lips were very seductive almost to the color of blood and her eyes were painted black which made her white skin glow. Maybe Jiayi might be able to help things turn in his favor.

"Rise. Demon princess, you look very beautiful." The heavenly king said still looking at Jiu Bao.

"Thank you, Your Majesty." Jiayi said smiling.

"Greetings demon princess" Jiu Bao said but was ignored by Jiayi.

"Your Majesty, I brought you some deserts. I hope you like them. They are recipes from the dark realm." Jiayi said spreading the deserts she had brought.

"Thank you princess." The heavenly king said.

"Seems Your Majesty is busy, I shall take my leave then." Jiu Bao said receiving no response from the heavenly king.

Jiayi's face changed as she watched the heavenly king. This couldn't be happening to her. It was very obvious how much the heavenly king was interested in that mortal.

"Your Highness." Jiayi said calling the heavenly king who had been staring at Jiu Bao as she left.

"Seems like Your Majesty is distracted with something else, I shall go and see the crown prince." Jiayi said packing the deserts she had brought.

"What? You want to go and see the crown prince?" The heavenly king asked angrily.

"Yes. You seem interested in other things and wouldn't even try to taste the deserts I made for you." Jiayi said crossing her hand.

"Wow. This is the first time I am seeing someone who is extremely audacious towards me. But I understand. You are jealous aren't you?" The heavenly king asked.

"Why should I? I can see His Majesty would rather be interested in that mortal than to be in me. That's very obvious" Jiayi said softly.

The heavenly king paused for a while looking at Jiayi. She was indeed as beautiful as her mother. Too bad we carried the blood of that demon he hated so much. If only he hasn't been too focused on taking everything from his brother, maybe he would have never been too foolish as to abandon the nature guardian and marry Fengge's mother.

Rising from his chair, the heavenly king wrapped his hands around Jiayi trying to comfort her. It wasn't in his best interest if she supported Fengge. Now that she was obviously in love with him, he had to make sure that she didn't end up going back to Fengge. Fengge was already powerful enough not to mention that he had the support of many celestials due to his birth father, the ice god. If the dark realm started supporting Fengge because of Jiayi, things would become very complicated.

"Okay. Let's stop fighting. I will eat your deserts. All of them" The heavenly king said as they both laughed.

Suddenly the heavenly king paused looking in the direction of the door. Jiayi immediately moved away seating on the chair that was arranged for guests. Few minutes later, a solider entered greeting the heavenly king.

"What is it?" The heavenly king asked.

"The fire god asked me to deliver this message to you personally." The solider said leaving as the heavenly king dismissed him.

After he left, the heavenly king opened the letter reading through it. His expression changing as he read through it. The celestial light festival was coming up again. It was a festival where the heavenly realm showed the power of the legendary crystal core allowing it to shine brightly in the three realms. Throughout the span of the festival, the celestials would be allowed to move up in cultivation easily without any hardship.

This time, the festival was to be held for two days which was shorter than the normal days. The only problem was that he was supposed to be the one to control the crystal core since he was the heavenly king but he didn't have the power to control it. Neither did he know where the crystal core was. All these years, he had deceived them by using a rare heavenly gem to replace the crystal core.

"Is there a problem?" The heavenly king heard Jiayi ask making him roll his eyes while he couldn't see. Now, there was no way he could hide this from her.

"The celestial light festival is coming up." The heavenly king said.

"Thank you for warning me ahead of time" Jiayi said smiling thinking she had finally been able to gain his heart.

"You see? I do hold you in very high importance. The peace of the three realms is the most important thing to me." The heavenly king said.

While Jiayi was smiling, the heavenly king worried greatly. The great heavenly treasure he had been using had been fool everybody because the nature guardian had not been present but now, if he wasn't careful, things were going to become very complicated.

Down in a dark place underground, the doors open shinning done light down into the dark place. The stairs led down into the dungeon. The heavenly king walked down until he stopped in front of a particular cell. This place was a secret from everyone because it was where he kept someone very special. The cell was dark. Nothing could be seen except two red eyes. Signaling to the guards, they closed the door leaving the whole place completely dark.

"Now, the whole place is just the way your heart is, black." An unknown person said.

Using his powers, he lit all the candles around making some light shine in the room. The face of the person could now be seen. Lines of scars were drawn from the rights side of his face down to his cheeks. He looked unkempt and dirty but his red eyes sparkled making him look scary.

"I finally came to see you. Don't you feel happy?" The heavenly king asked.

"You only came to see me because you need something from me. Don't tell me, let me guess. The celestial light festival is coming up and you don't have the crystal core nor do you possess the power to control it therefore you need me to help you" He said.

"This will not be happening if only you told me who has the crystal core. Hong shou, you have to help me. The nature guardian is out and if she attends the festival, I will be caught immediately" The heavenly king said.

"Are you begging me? You must be at your wits end." Hong shou said laughing his heart out.

"You are under my control. Look around. You are in chains so don't be smug. The nature guardian wouldn't have time to attend the festival if she has so many other problems on her hand" The heavenly king said smiling.

"What makes you think that this plan of yours will work? The nature guardian is no fool." Hong shou said while the heavenly king continued smiling.

"You are the worst man I have ever met. Don't worry, your karma is about to strike you. Just a matter of time" Hong shou said smiling.

Fengge sat outside watching as Su Ying practiced in the courtyard. The weather was perfect for drinking tea. Fengge dropped his cup when he saw Su Ying fall for the nth time today.

"Balance your foot on the ground. Your moves must be swift and light while your balance remains firm" Fengge said.

Su Ying took a deep gulp of air as she nodded her head in agreement. Getting up from the ground, she did as she was told. She had been here for a week. Although in the heavenly realm, time flew by so fast it was hard to comprehend, she had always remembered to keep track of time. Her father and Jiu Bao had agreed to send her to Fengge's side. Although she was angry that her sister had used her feelings for political matters, she was also happy because she got to be with him.

She was now learning under him. But she wasn't her just to train, she was here to keep an eye on things in the heavenly realm for her sister and figure out how to form a bond with the heavenly realm. Too bad she was failing so badly.

"This is bad. How did you become a lotus sect disciple with your skills?" Fengge asked in frustration as it sparked Su Ying's anger.
